Hillary will lose the GE ..Obama won't ...this is how...
The third party lurkers, namely Bloomberg and Nader are looking for a opening. They think Hillary being the nominee is the opening. If they jump in when Hillary gets the nod ...the repubs win

If Obama is the nominee ...the opening closes, because a real agent of change is running.

Bloomberg and Nader recognize this.

1. Obama has been working on this blackmail plan with Bloomberg.
Talk about dirty politics.

11. I'm an Independent....
and he does nothing for me. I will probably vote for Hillary though, should she be the nominee. If it's Obama, I will have a decision to make.

15. I hate when we loose!
So, thanks for giving permission to think what I want. I think Obama would easily win the general, and Hillary would have a far more difficult time, and possibly lose. Why are you blaming DU?

crying the blues.

10. Both LOSE in GE... Here's how...
Obama carries NO southern states. The repubs play race and "Islamic" cards (yes I know he is Christian) plus paint him as inexperienced on foreign policy, as well as like Al Gore - talking down at people.

Hillary - repubs play the "scandal" card. They hammer away by reminding voters of Whitewater, Trqavelgate, Monica, etc. Voters decide they don't want any more of Bill Clinton occupying the WH.

Take it to the bank. Dems will be crying in November.

13. Hillary might just...
Hillary might just grab oh, say an Arkansas.

That could put her over the top.

Other than that, the party is screwed.

14. don't bet on it. most people have not seen McCain beyond a soundbite
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 07:51 PM by CreekDog
he does not wear well in speeches or in debate formats. he simply is not very compelling and enough Republicans haven't forgotten what he did around 2000 to give him trouble later.

all that said, it's way early to say what's going to happen. whatever our weaknesses, we will have opponents and they are pretty weak themselves, and I would argue, have greater weaknesses than we do.

also, any third party entrant that looks to have an impact comes out of Republican votes for the most part and at best splits independents evenly. democrats now voting for clinton, obama or edwards are not going to be favorable to a bloomberg, certainly not in numbers greater than republicans would be attracted to bloomberg.

on edit: i lived in Arizona and while McCain was popular there, he was not a presence on tv, radio, newspapers, etc. in a presidential campaign, he will be seen everywhere and that doesn't serve him too well.

16. You are quite right. I think he's also beginning to lose it.
Whatever "it" is, he once had something and he no longer does. He's old, and he shows it well, I think any one of our candidates could make him look pitiful in a debate. Jon Stewart can destruct him in a 5 minute interview. I just hope it's Obama or Edwards in the debate against him, myself.

18. Gotta agree that Obama will have trouble in the South ...
... but the Dems *can* win the White House without winning a single Southern state -- however unfortunate that would be.

17. Actually, last I heard from Nader (on Young Turks program weeks ago) ...
... he was threatening a run if the Dem. nominee was either Clinton or Obama. (Nader indicated he'd be OK w/ an Edwards run.)
