SC voter turnout update (and a bit of other news)
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 06:40 PM by hiaasenrocks
I went to vote this afternoon at 1pm and according to a gentleman who I've seen working there the last two major elections (2004, 2006), they had not seen that kind of turnout before. He said he'd never seen it like this and it was only half-way through the day.

So it looked to be a bigger turnout than I was hearing this morning.

On another note, I ran into a former co-worker whom I haven't seen in almost a year. We talked briefly and caught up. She was with her husband and sister-in-law. They are African-American and said that they had switched from The Clintons to Obama this week precisely because they resented the way The Clintons were using race. So these three individuals were NOT going to vote based on their race until The Clintons raised the issue. I said that I wish they had considered Edwards (my choice) and she laughed and said, "He'd make a good running mate for Barack." :)

All in all, a good day. Let's see how this plays out tonight.

2. So much for the pop-political science notion that negative campaigning causes voters to stay home

4. Ultra-negative campaigning gets the voters out against.
That's what seems to be happening in SC today anyway; they had enough of the Clintons' sense of entitlement to their votes. I predict Hillary comes in third tonight.

5. Thanks for the update
I was wondering if the turnout had picked up since your report this morning.
