NEW RASMUSSEN NATIONAL POLL: CLINTON 36%, OBAMA 33%, 8-POINT SHIFT IN ONE DAY! OBAMA ONLY 3 BACK!

Democratic Candidates NATIONAL POLL
01/26/08

Clinton 36%
Obama 33%
Edwards 18%

01/25/08

Clinton 41%
Obama 30%
Edwards 16%

http://rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/daily_presidential_tracking_polling_history

It seems the debate really slammed bot but Obama has recovered quickly and Clinton keeps heading down. This is a 7-DAY TRACKING POLL SO THEY ARE LIKELY TIED IN THE LAST DAY OF POLLING. IF it holds up, Obama could tie or even pull ahead, especially if he wins SC.

Hillary seems to have had a really bad day on Friday, yesterday, as another poll picked up:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4208196

Perhaps Bill melting down hurt, plus the way she glared at Obama and Edwards at the debate seems to have hurt her, wiping away the tearing up image and replacing it with that look. She had been trying to avoid THE GLARE in all the debates but finally blew it -- and GLARED.

UPDATE: IT IS A FOUR-DAY TRACKING POLL NOT A 7 AS POINTED OUT BY THE RELENTLESS TWILIGHT ZONE, BUT SHE STILL CRATERED FORM 42-41 to 36 SO SHE MUST BE DOWN AROUND 33 OR SO ON THE LAST DAY. OBAMA COULD BE AHEAD EVEN ON THE LAST DAY OF POLLING. THANKS TZ!

Recommend to help get the word out!

78. All this means is that Obama will lose big time if he wins primary.
Those 20% going to Edwards will go Independent, Green, or Republican.

If Edwards were out of the race right now, Hillary would be beating Obama big time, even in SC.

I know the national polls mean that he may be making some inroads into the SuperTuesday states, if he is, we will know soon enough. Not sure the much expected win today will give as much of a bounce as a win in one of the earlier states, but it can't hurt! A loss today would be utterly devastating, so you have to consider that as well.

And thanks for the correction. I agree with you that a loss today would entirely deflate his campaign.
That is why I am nervously awaiting the outcome.

to understand.

If true, the race is over and Obama has a 55/30/15 edge when all 4 post debate sets of 200 responses are included in the 800 person tracking poll report.

's random snark - they all may be having an effect.

The pro-Obana push has been very blatant this week - as has the Mitch is better than Obama.

Obama had better enjoy this now because the media wants Mitch - and are fearful of Hillary it seems.

and she doesnt specifically denounce them, then that means she agrees with them?

I can understand why you disagree with this rev. caldwell. I can see you would want obama to make a clear statement (if he hasnt already, i have no idea) regarding his position on the views of rev. caldwell. But attributing caldwells views with obama in this instance seems to make about as much sense as clinton not making a statement to denounce lindsey grahm (sp?), whom she has used in her advertisements, even though im sure hes connected to organizations you would have a problem with.

Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 12:42 PM by maddiejoan
To my mind this already indicates a willingness to lend credence to their opinions.

Let's put this another way:

There are evangelical Christians who believe that Jews need to be "perfected" by embracing Christ in order to get to Heaven.

Should they be given a political voice? How would you feel about a candidate that gave them that voice?

74. Ok, so do you believe these people speaking at an event of a candidate is the tipping point...
for your support? As in , because he allowed this man to speak at his event, rather than merely received his support, it signaled for you obama was too open to this mans ideas?

Regarding some evangelicals and their beliefs regarding jewish people, they have plenty of elected representatives giving them a voice. That being said, i believe a dialoge can be had with these types of evangelicals, even though on this issue i disagree with them.

Daily tracking results are collected via nightly telephone surveys and reported on a four-day rolling average basis. The next Presidential Tracking Poll update is scheduled for Sunday at 11:00 a.m.

It's not a seven-day poll.

37. Obama is surging in California, especially in the Bay Area.
I've seen lots of Obama bumper stickers here, but not one for Hillary. Also, San Jose Mercury news just endorsed Obama and everyone I talk to is really enthusiastic about his candidacy. Lots of people aren't satified with Hillary and want to learn more about him. And new ads started running here recently which is also going to tighten the race as more voters get introduced to him.

GoBama!

28. Who woulda thought...
embracing Rove and campaigning like him would hurt her chances with TRUE BLUE DEMOCRATS

The real Hillary is now exposed, and the Democrats don't like what they see.

39. I gotta admit, i dont see how a candidate expects to win by lowering the level of debate.
Give people something to vote for. You dont improve a democracy by putting other people down. You improve it by raising the level of dialoge.

81. It's backed up by the new Zogby SC poll, which showed a similar movement
Obama is now using humor and making the voters laugh and that is working.

No more negative comments at all.

83. Play pick the bouncing scores
Hillary is up 3% since January 7. Obama is down 3 points since January 13. Edwards is down 2 points since January 8. We are moving toward a landslide for Hillary?

"Obama is unelectable!"

It did so well for us in 2004. Anyone remember that?
