There's a lot of hate on the internets
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 03:29 AM by andyrowe
So many (if not all) threads totally break down into unproductive vitriol. All sides seem to torch anything supporting a rival, bringing up several negatives for every positive posted.

What if we tried to have the most civil thread we possibly could given the MSM imposing a narrative on all our candidates and the flame-inducing nature of passionate psuedo-anonymous forum posting. And if we absolutely had to point out something negative, we could point out something positive about the target as well.

I'm going to start by posting something positive about each of the three remaining candidates.

Obama would be an amazing catalyst for change. He would utilize the bully pulpit with great effect to motivate congress.
Clinton would be a formidable opponent in the GE.
Edwards does his homework, will fight to protect labor and would also be a force behind the podium.

{edited to add an indefinite article. sigh}

1. Here
Edwards- Love his message, but will he follow through? If he won and did, we'd all be much better off for it.

Clinton- Fierce campaign would shred the Repubs.

Obama- Very affable, great speaker, would be most likely to get Repubs to work with the Dems a bit better.

2. Yes , and most of the hate is here on GD-P. Uncivil, name calling- what they dont realize
is once they start calling names, and spouting insults, filth and vitriol
they lose all credibility. And actually cause people to move away from their candidate.

Thanks

3. Expect the same in this thread ....
BUT: Not from me ... I love ALL the Democratic candidates ....

Picking one over the others seems a bit like selecting a favorite child ..... I love them all the same ....

9. No, other forums dont have the vitriol & cursing. This's a different group of people - unlike
anything on DU before.

7. Okay, I'll play.
Edwards is my guy. He's a fighter and he's talking about the issues that matter to me the most.
Hillary knows what she's up against and can take whatever's thrown at her and turn it to her advantage.
Obama can lead a crowd like the most charismatic preacher, and speaks as well as anyone I've ever heard.

8. Yes, everyone is out of tune. Weather its on the internet, in the market place,
or driving to and fro. I try hard but it always doesn't work out before I'm pissed.

11. I'm not sure it matters...
whether weather is on the internets. Weather in the market place is a whole 'nother story though.

13. Sometimes?
I'm getting to the age where I'd like some silence most of the time. I'm even looking forward to naps.

Sigh.
