So, Ron Paul's people were out canvassing
Came home from work yesterday to find Ron Paul literature on my door. Thought I'd share some of the highlights of the material so that everyone will be aware of what he's really all about. I know that his anti-war stance has been popular around here with some, so, I thought I would elaborate on on his positions a bit. Boy, did they "knock" on the wrong door!

First off, there was a letter from Norma McCorvey "Jane Roe" of Row v. Wade fame fully endorsing Paul and his pro-life credentials. It was a full page going on and on about his unwavering support for anti-choice legislature as well as his bing the prime author of H.R. 300.

Next up is a listing of conservative initiatives that he supports. They are as follows:

#1 in donations from the US military and veterans (explains his support in this area)
Veteran who proudly served in the US armed services
Denounced in May 2007 the amnesty Z visa bill that would allow illegal immigrants to stay in the country
Introduced legislation to end "birthright citizenship" by illegal immigrants (2005, HJ Res. 46)
Calls to end all free services to illegal immigrants
Calls to reclaim US sovereignty by ending membership to NAFTA, GATT, WTO, IMF and the UN
Rated "Taxpayer's Best Friend" by National Taxpayers Union
has never supported a tax or fee hike or a new tax or fee, and promises he never will
Has never voted fr or signed a budget increase
Will slash federal spending by $700 billion or more
Will abolish the US dept. of Education
Responsible plan to phase out the IRS and individual income tax and replace it with nothing
Never supported any restriction on gun ownership
Most recent rating of voting record by pro-gun, pro 2nd Amendment Gun Owners of America
Did not support 1994 Brady gun law
Established voting history off 19 ears or longer

AND the best line of the whole shebang:

Ronald reagan endorsed him with these words: "We need him to keep fighting for our country"

Whew! Well, that clears things up!

Shameless self-kick but, for some reason I'm always the thread killer! I post and poof, it's like poison.

2. Thread killing.
I used to do that do, but it doesn't seem to happen that much any more. Actually, it never really happened on DU, mostly on email lists. I thought about using a username like Thredkilr.

Too bad they didn't show up when you were there. That might have been a fun conversation.

6. Thanks for the rec.!
I was thinking that too. Man I wish I'd been there! that would have been fun. Later that night I got polled by the Denver Post and asked if I would mind if a reporter called me to elaborate on my positions. Of course, I said, sure.

It was bizarre. You know, "Are you familiar with the name Hillary Clinton?"

I thought, "Jeez, have they been calling people who live under rocks or what?!" But, all in all it was an interesting poll. maybe I should say her reaction to my answers was interesting. When she asked me if my opinion about Rudy Guiliani was favorable, unfavorable or no opinion, she laughed when I laughingly said unfavorable.

Anyway, it was a funfilled political day. From the time I argued with a coworker about the stimulus package, Ron Paul visitors, to the Post poll. Crazy day!

4. I'll kick and recommend
there are a lot of Paul supporters around here. All they talk about is having no taxes. They don't think ahead to what it means. Some are retired; don't think they are willing to give up their Social Security and Federal pensions.
