It's going to be a tough night....
for all of us Edwards supporters. I already sense that tonight isn't going to be what we hoped. It will be tough to come to grips with tonight, after investing so much time and hope into Senator Edwards.

John Edwards in 2008/2012

3. It was unfortunate that he didn't get much attention even after Wisconsin.
Voters weren't paying attention and the race wasn't in the headlines anymore. That situation favors the front-runner.

4. Why? He came from no where and became a star
and certainly a contender for the future. Sometimes you have to pay your dues before getting a chance. I like him a lot and wouldn't hesistate to back him in the future but frankly I think he was too green (not the party) this time around.

6. I agree.
I supported Edwards up until the last few days (prefer not to go into why, as it's not relevant) and I have to say I never expected him to come this far. And he does need to pay his dues, as you said.

5. Clark supporter here.
I laughed, I cried and I wished he didn't drop out. Anyway, we have bigger fish to fry. You should still be filled with hope for November.

7. Take a look at your last line - he's new and did
EXTREMELY well against some very seasoned people. He's young and has a tremendous future.

9. Been there
As a Clark supporter, I had a rough night a couple of weeks ago. But I'm keeping my eye on Novemeber and will put my energy into defeating Bush. A Kerry/Edwards ticket looks promising, with Wes Clark sitting at Secretary of State.

We can do this. We can get BushCo out of Washington if we can all just come together in November.

Hang in there. It does get better.

16. If it goes the way it appears
Edited on Tue Mar-02-04 05:15 PM by Tom Rinaldo
I am sure it will be a very rough night, having myself been through one of those already. You get to the point where your heart wants to keep on hoping but your brain just can't be fooled. If your guy gets eliminated, now or later, you will get over it because you have to. We all do. We have to be strong enough to take set backs and then fight back for what we believe in. I wish you all the best.

18. Tom, you hit the nail on the head when you said
"your heart wants to keep on hoping but your brain just can't be fooled". It truly is heartbreaking.

17. AT LEAST YOUR GUY WAS GIVEN A SHOT....
....Dennis Kucinich was dismissed from day one and disrespected by the media, even "liberal" outlets.

John Edwards has a bright future. When I lived in North Carolina I proudly voted for him in 1998 and I think he would be a great president.

Keep hope alive!!!!!

19. It's a road I and others have already travelled.
I recommend that you stay away from here for a few days. When you come back, remember that there are actually only about ten people on here who gloat relentlessly about their candidate. The first few days after a loss, it will seem like these ten posters are the only ones posting at DU. They aren't. In fact they are only a small group of extremely annoying people. The vast majority of others are mature enough to understand that you do not rub salt in open wounds.

21. Chins up!
It hurts to work and hope so hard and see it not happen, I mean look who I support! We are all in this together and Edwards has done some amazing things, his name will not be forgotten if he does not do well. There will be more fighting to come. Hang in there, be proud, you all have done well.
