OK DU: Regardless of your Candidate Let's all offer a "Standing O" for Dennis Kucinich!
He ran a disciplined, principled campaign and all candidates should consider him a model of how thes proceedings should be conducted.

282. Without Kucinich, who's worth voting for?
The media killed his campaign in the end. Wise move to focus on re-election to congress.

All democrats watch this video:

Best of luck to Dennis for OHIO's 10th.

And that is saying something.

He's one of the best... on policy and integrity. It's a damn shame his candidacy suffered for it... but that's politics in today's America. *sigh*

Look at this poll at this cbs Cleveland station and ... honestly, I am appalled by the ignorance of that communnity...
http://19actionnews.com/Global/story.asp?S=7769767

One of the dems running against Dennis(Cimperman) is running horribly misleading ads head over heels saying Dennis has voted against veterans benefits, etc. etc. and this station is doing all it can to mislead the public against Dennis. Please take action in support of Dennis and helping him maintain his seat in the House!

Dennis has been the one candidate who does support the troops, wants them out of harm's way, and has had the courage to speak out and to vote his conscience, no matter how this hurt him politically! I can't believe that 78% (when I voted) of his constituents thought that it was about time that he dropped out... He's been my candidate since 2003 and I still think he's absolutely the best!:grr:

What a wonderful country you live in! Count yourself very, very lucky. All govt. and corporate people in America seem to be a people full of lies, deceit, shallowness and greed (getting what one wants at ANY cost); but to be real, human nature is that way to some degree, but the powerful don't even try to hide their unscrupulous, unethical, immoral ways...'those snakes' consider it 'good business practice'.

Count yourself lucky very lucky DutchLiberal!

122. Bruce Reed?
ok, whatever. Seems to me that actually running for president is he best way to become president. You know, go to Iowa and NewHampshire, over and over asking for votes, giving speeches, kissing babies, having tea with old ladies, etc. It may be silly that Iowa and New Hampshire are the important early places, it you do actually have to go there and ask people to vote for you. Iowa and new hampshire don't reward money, they reward time and effort. And I see a lot of kucinich people who didn't go out to Iowa and work. I see a candidate, and his supporters, who simply don't want to put the work in to run. In 1999 I quit my job and moved to Iowa to volunteer for Gore. In 2004 I did the same thing. (with pay this time) for daschle in south Dakota. I trust you did the same for your beloved kucinich? Or are you just a big talker, like he is? If you think he's that great, where is your dedication? How much money did you give? How much time? You doubt me, but I have given my blood sweat and treasure for candidates I believe in, before you complain about the short shrift your guy got, look at how much you really did for him? How many of the passionate dennisites went to Iowa and NH to volunteer? A hundred people on the ground in either state makes a big difference, were you there? Or did you spend the campaign season behind your keyboard? How many hours did you spend going door to door in either state educating voters? Huh? That's right, I am the asshole according to the view from your keyboard.

244. As a campaign stunt?
Yes, it is a gimmick. He knew it wouldn't work, but it got him some press, so might as well try it. You don't think he seriously thought it would work, do you? Or that he seriously thought he would make any noise nationally in the primaries? You have to actually run for president to be successful, not ignore the early primary states completely.

I just find it odd that a 'candidate' who inspires such passion online inspires so little in the real world. I just wonder why there wasn't a groundswell of volunteer labor for Kucinich like there was for Paul? Any ideas? Was it because , as I think, supporters knew he wasn't taking this seriously, so they weren't into it that much? I wonder.

And you may mock who I support, but at least I care enough to donate time and money, I'ce trudged door to door in freezing weather asking for votes, day after day. Have you? Or do only give yourself carpal tunnel talking about it? I know a lot of people in both states, only one of them ever saw a kucinich campaign person. Where are guy netroots when he needed you? Why didn't you care enough to go out there and help? Why weren't you there?

253. as a NH resident and vocal Kucinich supporter,
i can honestly say you have not the faintest idea what you're talking about. People are working for Kucinich here, i was one of them. Unpaid, and maybe insignificant to you, but doing it. Spreading awareness of the reality of the future without single-payer universal health care, the future with a war criminal president who should be appearing at the Hague not even getting impeached, the future with extraordinary renditions and secret prisons but no habeus corpus or evidence of any kind in military 'trials,' the future with unchecked surveillance of ordinary citizens... you know, all those things that other candidates won't even talk about these issues except in the vaguest of platitudes and with horribly inadequate solutions.

What we did was maybe small, but it was something. We hosted events to watch the debates (you know back before Kucinich was corporated out of the debates), talked to people who would listen, asked questions about what mattered, stood around at major intersections holding placards, handing out signs and information, talking to people who would listen.. etc. Do you think that because more people did that for the candidate that you support that your personal work meant more than mine? That's horseshit.

As the man has said himself, a courageous vote is the only one worth casting. Myself and a scant but dedicated 4000 people cast a courageous vote in November in this state, and if i could i would do it again next November.

So take your questions about why we weren't there volunteering and put them in some place other than this Kucinich appreciation thread.

Good lord..

268. WOW. Such venom. First I didn't mock your candidate. I was guessing who your candidate is
based on your attitude. Your attitude isn't what I would call a friendly liberal attitude. To say such nasty, hateful things about another candidate (even after he drops out) isn't what I call a "Democrat" attitude.

Do I think impeachment will happen? No. Because our party is full of chicken-shits that are afraid of the republicans. But I do appreciate those that are willing to stand up against the tyranny of the corporations (that doesn't include the DLC nor the candidates that voted with Bush to invade Iraq).

Will you continue your support if your candidate chooses Lieberman as a running mate?

254. i disagree
Doing the right thing when nobody else will is righteousness and not vanity. When eight people are watching a gang rape and one stops it, is this vain? Until another candidate will speak out against war crimes, crimes against humanity, lying a nation into war, scaring a nation into surrendering the bill of rights, etc, then he's the only shot. i hope i get the chance to be so vain someday.

And his relevance is much greater than more than a few of the other candidates in my opinion. He is there to raise the level of discourse and actually talk about the issues, which is more than i can say for the 'major' candidates. Without him, the debates would be reduced dangerously close to grunting and arm waving and 'i love america more than you, 9/11 9/11 9/11!'

And that was why he was shunned and ultimately, banished. You can't have somebody constantly injecting reality into the discourse. :)

126. Dennis serves a unique role in our party
and no one can take that away from him. His voice does raise issue to some provocative issues we want discussed. Some of these are items other candidates polling much higher will not touch because to do so will incur adverse political reaction. It is to Kucinich's credit, he knows it is not all about him but the issues.

132. America WON the minute this man entered the race ...
He asked the questions that need answering, he raised the level of political discourse to what it could be instead of what the MSM dictates it should be, and he forced the other candidates, on both sides, to recognize that the topics of political conversation should be focused on the needs of the voters rather than the soundbytes that 'fit' the bottom-screen crawl.

Mr. Kucinich, with all due respect ...

Ever since Day 1 of "A Prayer For America"

I will truly miss your voice - take care of the people back home, hun. They need you. If, in their confusion, they decide it's time for you to stay home - there is so much more you can do. Just look at what Bill Clinton and Al Gore have accomplished when their elected service was done.
Bless you for all you do, and have done.

MSM.

He and Turley said you ran out of money, something which happens when your candidacy is ignored.

257. I have zero enthusism for the other
trolls . Anyone think Dennis qualifies as a short person. Look at the other trolls left. I have not watched these meaningless debates since before Nevada . If I did , the remaining three, use so many generalizations and personal invective; If I did I am afraid I'd not vote Democratic come November.

261. Dennis and Elizabeth get my gratitude
I heard Dennis speak early on in the run. He got more done and got heard more than I expected at the time. He has been a wonderful candidate. A lot of work and just for the sake of Democracy.

Now I'm with Edwards and if he goes, I can not say. A vote against the GOP is all I can hope for once again. I do enjoy voting against them, but voting for a candidate just once would be a thrill.

264. He said things that needed to be said
When no one else was willing, when no one else dared.
He knew he would lose, but because of that knew he
had nothing to lose. Good for him!

"I'm Dennis the Congress-man! I'm not just an also-ran!
"I say without blinking what everyone's thinking
"But no one else dares or can!"

Does Kucinich have any Presidential campaign debt that needs to be paid off? I was glad he paid for the New Hampshire recount to put that issue to bed.

This morning, CNN said there are 4 opponents for his House seat. Are any of them a serious threat?

300. sorry...
i can't agree. when he threw his supporters to obama in iowa i washed my hands of him. i was going to vote for him here in calif but i was completely turned off. hypocritical. egotistical. terrible. i had a lot of respect for him until that. obama is EXACTLY the type of politician kucinich was supposedly against. edwards if hands down closer to dennis' views. i believe it was vindictive because of what edwards SUPPOSEDLY said to hillary after a debate. well, i'm not interested in petty paybacks when my country's future is at stake.
