Glenn Beck -"All Clinton Supporters Are Racists"
Edited on Thu Jan-24-08 01:11 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
I'm driving home from Ballys this morning with my mom who will be ninety years old in Febrauary... She can't be left alone so she sits in the waiting area while I work out... We were discussing how sad it is that race has become a topic in this campaign... A little background... I was born in New York but moved to Central Florida as a kid in 1970... It was a very different time... My dad worked on a crew putting up road signs with some African American guys and when it was time for lunch break he sat with them... They told him him if he did he would be shunned by the white workers...He didn't care... He also had some friends who lived in the African American area of DeLand, Florida...DeLand housing was pretty segregated then... It's still pretty segregated except for the newer middle class and upper middle class developments... In the innocence of my youth I used to look forward to going there, and walking around with the kids my age and going to the local store...There weren't many white folks there and I felt special...They also used to come visit us...I had a mini bike that I used to let them ride and give them rides on...This kid from my neighborhood said "he saw something fly out of the girl's hair"...Thirty five or so years later it still strikes me as an "asshole thing to say."

I digress... With all this as a background Glen Beck says "Hillary Clinton supporters are racist." My mom got teary eyed and said "I love Nate and Mary and they are more important than the election."
Nate and Mary are our neighbors, and of course are African American... They are so nice...I wouldn't care what color they are...Ironically they are torn between Barack and Hillary too...

I know Glenn Beck is a right wing jerk...But to call somebody racist is tantamount to calling them a Nazi...What a flippin asshole...

4. He Chose To Be A Mormon
I don't want to slam an entire religion but he should look at his religion's treatment toward blacks...

17. My family lived next door to a family of Mormons
One night, my dad decided to invite them all to dinner. The conversation turned to politics and religion (bad choice). They claimed their "elders" told them blacks were "marked by God". I've never met a black Mormon and certainly, I've never had anything other than white Mormons knock on my door. I love telling them I'm a witch and to please leave.

8. I have been torn between all 3 of our Dem candidates
Hearing what Glenn Beck says makes me sad.

Beck is a sad, sad excuse for a human being. He has sold his soul.

9. "...calling someone a racist..."
I agree, I think that is just so overboard, especially when you don't even know a person.

15. Dumb of beck
to make such a statement. Beck seems to be getting a bit big for his britches these days. Some things he spews actually do make some sense, but this is over the limit. The Clinton's were never racists and Hillary carries the mature Black voters.

12. That's awful and sad. With that said, I would never, and I mean
never have Glen Beck on the radio. And my 87 year old mother heard Rush Limbaugh once- we were driving on the Merritt Parkway in CT. She listened for about 3 minutes and her face had that polite frozen look on it, like she was at a dinner party and had bit into something awful and was trying not to show it. She finally said something like, "do turn that dreadful man off. Feminazis, I've never heard anything so stupid in my life".

22. Just wrote cnn and ccn/headline news and asked if Glen Beck
said this,"Hillary Clinton supporters are racist." and if he did then he should either be place on leave or be forced to apologize and then fired. This is far worse then what Don Imus said....

29. Loaded words should be used sparingly
words like racist, sexist, liar shouldn't be thrown so easily. If you toss them out there blithely then they don't have the same punch.

30. ridiculous
Hillary Clinton Supporters are not racist - that's crazy. That's just like saying because I support Obama I'm sexist - also not true - a female president would be great - I just don't like Hillary Clinton. We all just support who we feel is the best candidate - best to ignore him.
