Obama accuses Bill Clinton of "hit job" on him.
Edited on Thu Jan-24-08 10:19 AM by cali
Oops, no. That would be the other way around. WTF? That's just absurd. And it's whiny as all get out. If Bill doesn't want to mix it up, why the hell is he playing the attack dog role? Did he expect that Obama's campaign would simply meekly let him go on the attack? He can't have it both ways. He can't expect to be treated as a respected ex-president and elder statesman and yet behave as an agressive surrogate for his wife. And now he's whining about it. Way to damage your own reputation, Mr. President.

2. He doesn't care about damaging the presidency as an institution
Or his own personal legacy right now. Or the Democratic Party. He cares about winning the White House back. He'll worry about all the rest later. He is convinced he can convince everyone to forget that he's crossed the line between running against a Republican and running against a Democrat. As far as he is concerned, apparently, he is a candidate in this Democratic primary. I remember once he said, way back, years and years ago, "You do what you gotta do." He's doing it.

3. Your defense of Obama is noted Cali...
however he is beginning to look much like Dennis--you know, the guy who has been whining and crying for months now, the guy who won't play by anyone's rules.

Obama put himself in this bind despite his awareness that much of what he claimed about himself was if not untrue, slanted for his benefit.

As far as Bill's participation in this election process, where is the template that says the spouse of a candidate cannot participate? There isn't one is there.

And no, Obama is not capable of withstanding reasonable attacks from a really professional politician like Bill.

4. This isn't about defending Obama
Don't believe me? You might check out the thread I started this morining criticizing Obama for his Wal-Mart comments and other related stuff. This is about Bill Clinton's poor behavior, and if you think it's an issue now, just wait.

6. This is TOTALLY the Clinton game plan...in technicolor.
Edited on Thu Jan-24-08 10:33 AM by TwoSparkles
This is the same playbook the Clintons been running since the days of Arkansas.

It's a step-by-step strategy:

1. Attack opponent. Grossly distort a quote or an event. Do this over and over and over and over ad nauseum---until
the opponent is lured into the fray--because they have no choice but to set the record straight.

2.) After opponent defends themself against the lie--attack the opponent on "not being consistent"
or "changing their story". Humor often works in this phase, "I just don't know what to believe! This person changes
their mind every minute!" Act indignant.

Important point in phase 2: Insist that the original lie is reality. Repeat the lie until it
metastasizes into the public consciousness.

3.) As opponent becomes angrier---come out with "Boy! He's sure frustrated! Can you believe that! Look. We just want
to help the American people and run a clean, uplifting campaign. We can't deal with all of this anger and confusing
rhetoric. Now, let's talk about my plan for America, unlike our opponent who just wants to fight..."

4.) Drop the subject for a half day. Hit the candidate with a new distorted lie in 10 hours. Repeat steps 1-4
until campaign ends.

I, OTOH, only get frustrated when I can't help you, the American people, fast enough.

It's my major weakness.

9. Are you kidding me?
Bill Clinton looks like a complete buffoon.

Can you imagine Elizabeth Edwards behaving like this?

You can support your spouse, without behaving like a
fool.

Most people are turned off by this. Half of this
own party is turning against him. I wouldn't call
that "effective".

I don't agree with Tweety alot but I'll agree on this point. Billary may win in the end, but people will remember how they won. This isn't going to be forgotten no matter how hard they wish it to go away. This former billary supporter is sick of it and disgusted.

31. Bill CLinton is not concerned about being some so called
Edited on Thu Jan-24-08 11:19 AM by BenDavid
elder statesman and ex president, what Bill is doing is helping his wife become the president of the united states. Bill CLinton is not whining about any damn thing. He is trying to tell the public at large the meidawhores are giving obama a free pass on what he proposes and never gives any damn details about them. Yes, he faults the media and so do many millions that watch it play out day in and day out....Hell, I hate to admit it but I see better reporting on edwards and HRC from Fox news then on the otehrs. Msnbc does give positive coverage of all three candidates, but cnn and wolf are the worse. Three hours each day that mediawhore goes negative on hrc in each hour. hour 1 negative, hour 2 negative, hour 3 a repeat of hours 1 and 2 negative reports.

I said last week if obama wants to call out bill clinton then all obama has to do is name the place and the time and bill will be there. Hell, from what I seen thus far Obama has let bill get into his psyche and obama does not know whether to wind his ass or stratch his watch. Bill has done a job on obama and I doubt serious obama even with all is flash and dash wants to get into a policy discussion with wjc.

Hell, if this were a pay per view event I would pay the 40.00 to watch, and it would be great to see obama try to boB and weave against bill and then bill would counter with a fake to his left and obama take the fake and bill hands obama his ass and the event is over.....

No, bill has not done what you are writng trying to have it both ways....but when bill goes back into that role he will be as accepting by those he is speaking too and in helping the same as he is accepted when campaigning for his wife...Obama cannot stand it and it is showing and coming through on the television..obama has been JUKED and JUKED BAD by THE BIG DAWG...
