Poll question: Which Republican do you hope the GOP nominates?
Edited on Thu Jan-24-08 02:24 AM by DiamondJay
Which Republican do you hope the GOP nominates (who has a shot)? I ask this to see who people here think would be easiest to beat. I personally think Romney would be the best for the GOP to nominate at this point because his nomination would hurt GOP turnout big time because he has such a liberal history. AND there are many bigots who will not vote for a mormon, which while I think is wrong, is good if it will keep a Republican out of the White House this go around, altho I hope the glass ceiling isn't there forever. AND it would be easiest to paint him as a fake person because he comes off as such, and he is the epitome of American resentment towards the super rich because he flashes it so much.

I don't put Alan Keyes in the poll because he's only in the race on the ballot but not ever even on TV or anywhere, altho if he had a shot, it would be funny as hell.

6. Remember, Willard won Massachusetts...

I'm concerned that people might be underestimating him. He's got money, he's got hair, he's got Wall Street and the Bush neocons behind him, and he's shown that he can appeal to moderates. He worries me more than the rest of them.

I pick McCain, just because. :)

edited for reality

8. Romney
Clinton supporters put out all these polls showing McCain doing well against Obama but they neglect to say that the same polls show Clinton not exactly doing well against McCain either. I think McCain is the only one the GOP has who has the potential to win.

9. Huckster.
Mittens has unlimited money, and 9u11iani is backed by the wing of PNAC that even Cheney thought was too batshit insane for the Chimp cabinet. Huck would be the easiest to fight because his own words (amend the Constitution to make it compliant with "God's Law") will scare the hell out of any sane person, even sane Christians.

I'm hoping for "make it a hundred" McCain. People are starting to put the economy and Iraq together.

11. Mittens. Not Huckster. He's Scary
Edited on Thu Jan-24-08 03:17 AM by AndyTiedye
If he got the Mighty Slime Machine behind him we would really be in trouble.
If Huckster wins, we get a full-blown theocracy in very short order.

14. The difference between Mittens theocratic lunacy and Huck's theocratic lunacy
Is that Mittens has the money to buy favorable news coverage. You'll never hear that Elohim has celestial sex with many wives, or that Mitt believes he will be the God of his own planet. Corporate America likes Mitt, because he is one of them, and partners with the Bush Crime Family in many of his more recent business ventures, such as Dunkin Donuts, Baskin Robbins, and Clear Channel.

All Huckster has going is dominionism and a weird tax "reform" idea that would probably create as much chaos for corporate accountants as it would the rest of us. The Repuke establishment don't want Huck. I don't think they really want McCain either, but they'll take him over the dog lynchin' hick from Arkansas.

15. My Huckleberry friend
He is the gift that keeps on giving. Every time he goes into specifics he scares the hell out of even his own party. A laugh a minute.

17. Huckabee for Biblical Law-2008!
I can't wait till he recommends stoning men with beards.

But for a harsh dose of reality: many republicans dislike the Huckster because, get this, in their minds he's too liberal.

Yee Gawds!
