KERRY Supporters! Fall in...
... if you all feel like it. Two things...

First: Tomorrow things may go well. Great. But the turd Rove will start to pull out all the stops. Resident Cheney ordered NASA to delay the release of the Martian water data until Super freakin' Tuesday for a selfish political reason, so be prepared to continue carrying the good word far and wide. Your work is a big part of the reason John Kerry has gotten this far. Now our horse is going to really need you.

Second: Remember two months ago, GD 2004 Primary - - like the campaign coverage in general - - was all Dean, all the time. Howard Dean is a great Democrat who ran a great campaign and then things started to cool; a sudden snowflake here and there turned into a big white blanket; then a hiccup on live TV started an avalanche. Similarly, there now looks like a preponderance of dump-on or go-go John Kerry threads. Not complaining or looking for a pity party, just wanted to remind you: It's funny how things can change so fast.

PS: I want to thank YOU all for never giving in. YOU all toughed it out. YOU all made it possible for the best qualified candidate to get his message out. YOU got through loud and clear coast-to-coast. Thank you ALL!

Go John Kerry!

These, my DU Friends, are GOOD people.

23. You've Kerry-d the water, PittPoliSci!
And for your efforts we may soon have a different kind of President than most Americans have lived with - - not UNDER as with the current occupant, who fancies himself a king or a dick-tater. That's why I say, down with the Bush Organized Crime Family! which, in essence, is what royalty boils down to. Kerry is a real Democrat who believes all people are created equal, that is, are each to be valued as highly as any other.

63. I worked for him at the WI Dem Convention in June...
I actually signed onto his site to volunteer last Feb. but I finally got to go out and work for him in June. My girlfriend and I manned his table alone for 4-5 hours and Kerry got screwed into the empty hall with Joe Lieberman, the Sierra Club's unmanned table, and Bob Graham's table. Dean got the hot spot and his supporters were everywhere and trying to sticker us as we walked by despite the very large Kerry stickers we had on. The Deaniacs were loud and Dean's angry yelling probably got the loudest ovations at the Convention.

But I just held firm. I worked on drawing more and more people to our Fox Valley area Meetups. I went down to work the JJ Dinner in Iowa and was one of the extremely loud Kerry bunch there. I did various work for the State Campaign here and became an Area Coordinator. I never gave up and now it does feel quite strange to see Dean out and our guy running away with it.

I got a lot of flack about how Kerry was boring or Kerry had no shot but truth be told he wasn't and once people got a really good look at him they saw the man who can beat Bush.

This may only be the first half of the journey but I bet there are a lot of overconfident Republicans that figure that the $150 million and Karl Rove's sneaky tricks will make this a shoe-in for Bush and they much as Deaniacs once did, consider this election to be theirs hands down.

I look forward to the deja vu when the election results come back in November and we win by taking 4 states Bush had last year (WV, TN, MO, AR) and three of them being in the South.

I for one, will never stop fighting.

A long list of lobbyists who contributed to his campaign was printed in some newspaper I was reading this morning, and used it to raise questions about his statements about not being a Washington insider.

You can see it at:

You've been Kerry-ing water on DU non-stop from your first post, if memory serves. Dodged through more than few minefields at flank speed, too. PS: I hope I didn't over-do the military analogy. And I really appreciate your kind reply, my DU Friend. My imaginary rate? Sub-sea cadet second class (short).

A real president? An honest man who restores the rule of law to the federal government? A man who knows what to do with the powers of the Presidency? A human being who knows how to make life better for ALL Americans. A President who knows how America can change the world through peace? Since 1932, those men have been Democrats. May we see those days, again!

35. Thanks, graywarrior! Every hand counts!
And if you're a veteran or have served the nation through government service, I owe you my eternal thanks. For the personal sacrifices made by good people I am a free man today.

Reason #278 why I'm for John Kerry - - He knows this about the Bush Organized Crime Family:

John Hull's Great Escape

By Robert Parry

John Hull, the American farmer in Costa Rica whose land became a base for contra raids into Nicaragua, averted prosecution for alleged drug trafficking by fleeing Costa Rica in 1989 with the help of U.S. government operatives.

A report by Justice Department Inspector General Michael Bromwich disclosed new evidence about Hull's escape from Costa Rica in a plane flown by a pilot who worked for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The report, however, could not reconcile conflicting accounts about the direct involvement of a DEA officer and concluded, improbably, with a finding of no wrongdoing.

SNIP...

But Hull remained untouchable, although five witnesses implicated him during Sen. John Kerry's investigation of contra-drug trafficking. The drug suspicions just glanced off the pugnacious farmer, who had cultivated close relationships with the U.S. Embassy and conservative Costa Rican politicians.

In January 1989, however, Costa Rican authorities finally acted. They indicted Hull for drug trafficking, arms smuggling and other crimes. Hull was jailed, a move that outraged some U.S. congressmen. A letter, signed by senior Democrat Rep. Lee Hamilton and others, threatened to cut off U.S. economic aid if Hull were not released.

Costa Rica complied, freeing Hull pending trial. But Hull didn't wait for his day in court. In July 1989, he hopped a plane, flew to Haiti and then to the United States.

... and you and General Clark and the good people in Washington are going to be with us. As you know most of the people in government service -- from the Pentagon to Foggy Bottom to Langley -- are good people. They saw Bush lie about not knowing "that man who supported my opponent, Ann Richards." Ken Lay. Oh yes. Good people know Bush is a crook. This is why Bush is so into secrecy, from the ENRON Energy Policy to 9-11 to Iraq WMDs - - Bush fears the truth. the ultimate weapon. Thus, he fears John Kerry and his supporters.

37. I've been busy out in the real world,
the Kerry campaign is finally coming to Montana in preperation for our last in the nation primary June 8th and it's exciting to actually be in a real campaign. We're having Super Tuesday parties in cities across the state as a kind of a kickoff. Maybe our primary won't change anything but we are looking at it as a practice run for November. The pundits may scoff but the only way to convince me Kerry can't win Montana against Bush will be to show me the returns.

49. They aren't laughing now.
The overriding sense I have from December was a few Dean supporters mocking: "I can't wait until Super Tuesday when the nominee is decided and you Kerry supporters will have to shut up."

Several DUers, salin springs to mind, made certain that we kept it civil. Now we can begin the work of uniting and doing the Aesop's Fable Thing:

The Bundle of Sticks

An old man on the point of death summoned his sons around him to give them some parting advice. He ordered his servants to bring in a faggot of sticks, and said to his eldest son: "Break it." The son strained and strained, but with all his efforts was unable to break the Bundle. The other sons also tried, but none of them was successful. "Untie the faggots," said the father, "and each of you take a stick." When they had done so, he called out to them: "Now, break," and each stick was easily broken. "You see my meaning," said their father.

Union gives strength.

45. Thank you, octafish, for your unwavering support for John Kerry.
I am so pleased that we could have the most progressive candidate in the White House in my lifetime, but we are going to have to work like dogs to make it happen with the way these thugs runs campaigns--down and dirty--while Dubya pretends to be uninvolved in their thuggery.

I have no doubt that JK can fight but he will need dedicated troops in the field, his supporters, to make it happen in November.

Let's hope for a sweep today and let's get this show on the road!

That's a great photo, by the way.

If we're lucky, John Kerry will win the White House. These certainly are historic times we live in.

John Kerry will make a darn good President, too. I've waited for one since November 22, 1963.

Here's why: George de Mohrenschildt. He was friends with both George Herbert Walker Bush and Lee Harvey Oswald.

68. EARLY OHIO INFORMATION--ELECTION DAY
Report from Ohio:

Southwest Ohio has a very high number of Republicans calling Dem HQ's and switching to the Dem Party and asking for our endorsed slate so they can vote Dem.

Phone banking shows extremely high support for Kerry.

Early turnout is looking great--more volunteers than there is work for.

Sunny, beautiful day about 55 degrees.

Today will be a great day for Democrats all over the country.

They are voting the entire democrat slate, not just the Pres. primary.

places would be staffed and set up based on predicted participation. Some states have voters re-register perioidically.

It's good that you are being proactive and making sure your vote will count in November. To be on the safe side, I'll be voting absentee.

77. Hi Guys! Remember me???
I volunteered for Kerry back in July and it has been a wild ride. I remember duking it out here with the supporters of other candidates back before Iowa.

I was the one who posted: "We are going to win Iowa." 3 weeks before the caucus. It wasn't just bravado either! I had called over 2000 Iowans by then and with the efforts of other internet denizens we had contacted more Iowa caucus goers than Zogby!!! And the numbers?
1. we saw that we were picking up more and more undecided voters,
2. that the Gore endorsement actually hurt Dean,
3. that Edwards was coming on quickly,
4. that Gephardt support was surprizingly soft
5. the inescapable conclusion was that we were going to win going away.

I remember the scorn that was heaped on me by the supporters of other candidates and thinking to myself "Just wait..."

Well that was then and this is NOW! Today is our day! Minnesota for Kerry!!!

If it was up to me: John Kerry would bring up ENRON buddy, the 9-11 liar, the Osama family connection, BCCI and Ollie North's Iran-contra drug runner ties to the Bush Organized Crime Family. The trials would start the minute after impeachment.

Octafish,

As one who started campaigning for Kerry on Yahoo Groups a year ago, I have one thing to say about George Bush, "Bring it On"!

Kerry supporters old and new are ready!

You and your colleagues on the many, many blogs from "Women for Kerry" to "Operation MAILBAG" made all the difference in the world. Now we need you all to bring the fight to Bush. Given the facts, people will decide correctly.

Go kerrygoddess!

Go John Kerry!

137. Hey, CarlW!
In another life, I lived on Spotted Bull Run in San Juan Capistrano. We overlooked I-5 from the back yard, across which was the last orange farm, owned by the TV preacher inside the Chrystal Cathedral. The bum sets off fireworks every Fourth of Julie (to celebrate the joys of tax-free capitalism, evidently) and set our hill on fire...

Other than him and those who follow Mammon, California is filled with good people. May we all live to enjoy the fruits of good government with a Democratic President, one who works to make life better for ALL Americans!

Go CarlW!

Go John Kerry!

105. Have you got room for a former Edwards supporter to come on in?
I supported Dean early on, and then backed Edwards. But it's time to put that all away.

Edwards is now my candidate -- our Democratic candidate -- and I will work hard to get this fine man elected.

Cheers to all -- :toast:

Thanks for being there, DU Friend!

You are a good Democrat, DU Friend!

To beat that so-and-so bedwetting unelected fraud in the White House is our top priority. To do so requires all hands. Each of us will play a big role in turning the tide, especially among those in the red states. Converting people who don't know the truth about the crazy monkey is a job that requires true bravery. Thank you for standing up!

True Story: My wife wore her Kerry button to the parent-teacher thing a couple months back. Our son's in first grade and his teacher was VERY excited. We're in a Detroit 'burb and our town is filled with GOPers who don't like to, um, think very much. The teachers, though, do!

162. TEAM Kerry STICKS! There are MANY DUers who are not listed...
... but have supported John Kerry 100-percent, 100-percent of the time. Many have supported ALL our candidates. I'm dang happy to see read and see so many, many new Kerry supporters, as well. It's also evident there are a good many who, eventually, will come around. Of course, some DUers may never come around, they are OK and welcome, too!

While it may not mean much from me, Thank you ALL!

And thanks ALL who've posted or read this thread, including those who do not, or will not, support John Kerry. Perhaps a small parable from Aesop may change a few minds. The story also may serve as a reminder for TEAM KERRY:

THE BUNDLE OF STICKS

An old man on the point of death summoned his sons around him to give them some parting advice. He ordered his servants to bring in a faggot of sticks, and said to his eldest son: "Break it." The son strained and strained, but with all his efforts was unable to break the Bundle. The other sons also tried, but none of them was successful. "Untie the faggots," said the father, "and each of you take a stick." When they had done so, he called out to them: "Now, break," and each stick was easily broken. "You see my meaning," said their father.

Union gives strength

163. Former fence sitter reporting in for Kerry.
My first choice was Kerry because he IS the best qualified. Then I switched to Dean because of his positions . Then I switched to Clark because I like the man, his military record and his leadership qualities. Then went back to Kerry because he is a combination of all of the things that I admired about the other candidates. I like most of his positions, I like the man, his military background, his leadership qualities and I believe that Senator Kerry is the best qualified to attempt to suck the dirty air out of the Whitehouse. I will donate all that I can to help Kerry defeat the liar.

167. If you told me this would happen several months ago, I wouldn't believe it
I must admit that I did NOT tough it out, though. At Kerry's lowest point, I grew tired of defending him from the same attacks and left DU for a month or so.

Returning, I still avoided GD2004 entirely. It took me until a few months before Iowa before I could start the battlin' again. :)

So here's a toast to all thsoe Kerry folks who stayed in and battled to the bitter end. I remember the old grand battles on S&B back when seventhson and Gbnc were the pioneers of the argument. Sadly, like many petty arguments here, the argument on both sides hasn't changed.

Well, now there's only one goal--get Bush out.
