Intelligence scores directly related to candidate selection
In a study released today by UCF political science department it was discovered that a persons IQ score parallels their presidential candidate choices.

For example, high IQ samples were generally more progressive or libertarian and lower IQ's were more conservative. Full results will be released later this week in Political Science Journal.

On the democratic side Edwards and Kucinich appealed mostly to the high end IQ's, Obama in the middle with Clinton at the low end.

1. I would believe that.
The exit polls at least suggest that for Obama and Clinton (I'll admit to not having followed them for Edwards and Kucinich).

17. Nu-uh, even some pugs hate the chimp.
I'm talking about the hard core supporters; the minus two sigma IQ and below bunch.

I'm talking about George Bush's Al-Qaida.

4. That would mean that the smart people who are conservatives
are sociopaths with no empathy whatsoever. It is easy to fool a redneck into being a conservative, all you have to say is "They are going to take away your guns" but what about those who should know better?

6. This just confirms what research has been showing for a while
Conservatives need to be conservative meaning they need something that is absolute. They do not handle ambiguity well. In the worst cases, such as fundies, they cannot think beyond yes or no, black or white. They need something like the bible so they don't have to think too much. Don't even expect them to try to reason through whether or not there is a God and arrive at a conclusion that actually might validate their belief in a God. They're not that smart. They have to have absolutes or they go nuts. That's why they're such easy prey for the right wing. The RW is actually fairly intelligent, but they have a screw loose somewhere, or they may just be sociopathic. But they take advantage of the inferior intelligence of their rank and file.

26. Is there a link?
I'm supporting Edwards, so I should be smart enough to find it myself, but I'd rather link directly to the article.

There tends to be a curvilinear relationship between education and political preference, with highly educated (i.e., postgrad) and less educated (i.e., no college) people supporting Democrats.
