If I Could Fast Forward To The General Election For A Moment (pardon me for boring you with policy)
But I think if McCain is the GOP nominee we'll be in a good position because we'll have a polar opposite debate on the issue that most favors us - the war in Iraq, and a pretty similiar non-debate on the issue that we're most vulnerable to - illegal immigration.

I think if the debate hinges on the illegal immigrant question, then our candidate, whoever it is, will be in trouble. But if the nominee is McCain, he's the most liberal on that issue, and his position pisses off Republicans as much as the Democrats' position on that issue does.

On the war, McCain is the anti-Democrat. He wants to keep the troops there for 100 years. If that issue is as large as it is right now, then we'll score HUGE points no matter who we nominate.

McCain, therefore, is the candidate we should want to run against. He minimizes our weaknesses and compounds our strengths.

Now, go and let this thread sink because it's not bashing Hillary or Obama.

1. I think the war will continue to drop as an issue
things will be quiet over there until after the election.

2. I think that is a pretty good summary
But, also, I think the general population just wants a change ... and in this particular case means anybody who doesn't sound like a Bush advocate.

3. McCain Would be the Hardest to Beat
If he is nominated, we need to make sure everybody gets to see this picture:
