The letter I just sent CNN when I should totally be on my way to work...
Hello,

I’m writing to express, once again, my extreme dissatisfaction with the coverage given to John Edwards on your network. It was bad enough watching the debate last night and seeing him have to remind Wolf Blitzer that he was there, and that there were in fact three people participating in the debate. Now if only someone would remind the media in general of that fact. Despite being ignored, John gave direct, policy related answers and stayed above the fray. He was really the only one who appeared presidential in any way.

And yet, as I turned on the news just now to see what was happening in the world (and I confess, to see whether John would be ignored again, even though he clearly won the debate last night) there was a clip shown from the debate -- he was not shown, or mentioned, even once.

The way that this election is being controlled by the media and the pollsters absolutely sickens me. If John Edwards received even half of the coverage that the other two candidates do, I feel confident that he would be winning the race. Sadly, he is marginalized by the media on a daily basis. Even when he came in second in Iowa, beating Hillary Clinton, and really holding his own with candidates who grossly outspent him, that was not a story. It was still reported as a two way race. I am to the point where I trust the news I find on the internet more than what I see on TV, and that is sad. Focus groups watching last nights debate said that John won the debate, but that they would vote for Obama because they didn’t think that John could win. Why do you think they have that impression? If all of the people who think he’s the best candidate but don’t want to “waste” their vote on him would actually vote for him, I have a feeling he would win by a solid margin. Unfortunately, since he is not treated like the viable candidate that he is by you, the media, average people who don’t seek news from other sources don’t think that he is.

Please re-evaluate your coverage of John Edwards. His fabulous performance in last night’s debate has given you a perfect excuse to cover him more and make this a fair race that is decided by the people, rather than the media.

Sincerely,

Judy
Pittsburgh, PA

and none of the anchors mentioned this. It was only shown as a graphic.

4. I started a similar thread
last night (didn't send a letter but now will) and was bashed by an Obama supporter who basically said Edwards doesn't deserve coverage since he's on par with Gravel.

6. John totally won the debate last night. As he always does.
I was glad he was able to make his very salient points in the midst of the Obama/Clinton bloodbath. I came away loathing Hillary a little more, liking Barack a little better, and still thinking John is really what the country needs right now.

7. Many people don't have cable and can't see the debates.
That in itself is a problem...So when he is excluded in the coverage of the debates afterwards....They edit him out.

10. Welcome to the world of invisible candidates!
Would have been nice for John to speak up before it happened to him.
