(01-21) 15:47 PST San Francisco -- Tuesday is the last day to register to vote in California's Feb. 5 presidential primary.

Any new or revised registration cards have to be filled out, signed and postmarked by midnight, or would-be voters will find themselves sitting on the sidelines when the rest of the state picks candidates for president.
..snip

To beat Tuesday's registration deadline, California residents can either fill out a voter registration card at their county election office or put it in the mail in time to get it collected and postmarked by tonight.

Registration cards typically are available at public libraries, some city and county offices, Department of Motor Vehicle offices and post offices. They can also be downloaded from the California secretary of state's office at www.sos.ca.gov .
