Will Patrick Fitzgerald call Obama as a witness
in Tony Rezko's upcoming trial?

It begins on February 25th and, although he's listed in the indictment as "unnamed Candidate" and his Senate campaign (and perhaps his Presidential campaign?) was a major beneficiary of the alleged extorted money, I wonder if he may actually be helpful to the proceedings eg. information, establishing of time-line, recollection of certain events, etc.

Not a flame bait. Just a question posed to me by a friend and I'm hoping some legal minds can weigh in.

2. did he extort or embezzle money from Obama?
if not, how was he a target? I thought his campaign benefited -- and possibly Obama himself -- from money funneled from Rezko's businesses and through various associates.

7. the OP clearly states what I'm hoping for
Legal minds -- perhaps not yours -- weighing in on the necessity (or not) of Obama being a witness to extortion or embezzlement which may or may not have directly affected him or his Senate/Presidential campaigns.

Do I need to make it any clearer for you or do you understand now?

10. I understood.
You are making a weak attempt to smear one of the democratic candidates. That is clear. It's a shame that any DU member would resort to that type of thing.

11. it's an honest question
the only way one could consider it a smear is if one is afraid of the possible consequences of the trial and would rather not have Obama involved.

It's a sincere attempt at an answer and some legal insight. But you're free to call it what you wish.

12. I did.
And your latest post merely provides more evidence of your agenda. It is not possible to pretend you are being honest about having a sincere question when you write the nonsense about "the only way one could consider it a smear is if one is afraid ...." Nope. It's a cheap attempt to smear one of the three top democratic candidates.

6. read my OP
I asked if he'd be called as a witness for information, establishment of time line, etc and so on. In no way did I insinuate he was guilty of anything.

Learn to read before replying.

16. There is a decent chance. How embarrassing will it be to our party?
Maybe we can "hope" things will "change" and Obama is out the race by then?
