Will it struggle back up somewhat? Will they have to suspend trading?

It's a fasten your seatbelts kind of day.

2. it'll finish down something like 150-200 points
no way it'll finish down 400, or close to that.

Late day buyers will be snapping up bargains.

4. It was a little scary watching it go from down 217, and literally one minute later, down 450.
Its rebounded slightly to 373.

8. Remember Enron, Silverado, and Bush's oil "businesses"?
They've done so much to steal from various stashes of money and left the public with the bill, why not use the same tactics wherever money sits? They tried to do this with Social Security.

Don't let it be a surprise if other pools of money are shuffled and used up. Lots of folks are into these quick profit schemes, that leave debris.

10. Last night, reports were that an early sell-off was inevitable
Last night, reports were that an early sell-off was inevitable. The question being would the markets rebound (at least to an extent) by late morning- early afternoon.

As it stands, I wouldn't be surprised to see the market drop close to 650 and then rebound about 250 by the end of the day for a net loss of 400.

(Why I don't work in some swanky high-rise office in Manhattan wearing $500 suits and ordering around peons is just beyond me... :) )

11. This is what happens, when you put your country almost
10 trillion dollars in debt and run large trade deficits. This is going to be a bad recession.

12. Wait until the two big bond insurers they are worried about defaulting on some loans
occurs. They still have to figure out what to do to head that off.

14. Even 420 points is still < 5% of the total value of the DJIA
It sounds like a lot pointwise, but as an overall percentage of value it's not that much.

Now the Fed dropping 75 basis points this morning, OTOH...
