I AM SO PROUD OF OBAMA
Seriously. I am sooooo happy that he finally went after her, and I really think he did the best tonight. Like someone on Larry King (Laura Schwartz) said, tonight displayed what happens when you get under Hillary's skin, and Obama clearly did that tonight... and Obama seemed to look a lot better than her. IMO at least. I just wanted to say that.

20. Puh-leeese
This "sexist" crap has got to stop. Maybe it got the women voters to come around during the early contests but it won't work in the later contests.

That you Obamites always keep me in stitches.

Bwahahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahahaaha!

Just what planet did you come from? What debate were you watching? While two clowns were arguing, one honorable guy made the simple and honest pitch.

Does Obama get points for just showing up? You Obamatons would at least garner my respect if you admitted who the real victor was tonight.

US....the people who John Edwards speaks for.

14. He actually did great
Edited on Tue Jan-22-08 01:31 AM by Spiffarino
I was impressed at how he kept his feet under him while she chucked oppo research crap-bombs at him. He seemed ready for most of it, and what he wasn't ready for he deflected deftly. He's a lot more formidable than I expected. He could win.

I think Edwards got the better of the contest because he largely stayed away from the mudslinging.

Hillary got some good points in, too. I wish she'd stuck to her best ideas and her most passionate beliefs, but instead she got into a pissing contest with Obama using gossip and innuendo that rends us further apart. That did not help her or the Democratic party.

The debates are all about "gotcha" now. No ideas. No soaring rhetoric. Just throwing caca around and trying to make it stick.

18. I agree...Obama kicked Hillary's ass...
He demonstrated, point-by-point, that Hillary's manipulative vitriol against Obama is
political ploys. You could sense his exasperation, at being forced to deal with this
bullshit.

Obama explained what "present" meant, and frankly--I was happy to hear that. He made
more than 4,000 votes in Illinois and voted "present" 130 times. "Present" in Illinois
politics is a leveraging tool. It allows a legislator to state that they would vote
yes, if that bill was modified/expanded/changed in some way. I suspect that when a
vote is made in the Illinois legislature, and it doesn't pass, with many voting "present",
that allows the bill co-sponsors to further lobby and negotiate with those legislators
who voted "present". Then, the bill can be negotiated or changed--to turn those "present"
votes to "yes". It makes sense.

I loved that he explained that Hillary's healthcare plan mandates that all are covered, but
if the poor can't pay the premiums--they are fined. Who wants that? Hillary mandates that
the poorest of the poor pay insurance premiums. That's not covering everyone...it's making
demands that simply won't happen.

Obama was dignified, humorous, knowledgeable and gracious. He demonstrated that he is a
formidable opponent who can stand up to the Clinton attack machine.

You really could sense that he's sick and tired of her bullshit attacks. I hope he finds a way
to deal with the Clinton attack machine and get his message out. It's difficult when someone
twists your words and constantly lies about your record.

Obama can handle it, and I think the American people--during the course of this campaign--will
see what is going on. They will reject the Clinton nastiness.
