Hillary found her voice in NH and lost it in South Carolina

The most important message of the night was: I approve everything Bill is saying and its

going to get a lot more combative.

I could be wrong but I can only think that their internal polls are showing a disaster for South Carolina

and they are getting ready for a street fight before Super Tuesday

3. She was overshadowed by
Obama trying to explain himself.

You know, "I wouldn't have voted for it", while he wasn't there to vote for it to begin with.

"I was against the war, before I was able to vote against it", type of thing.

Little stuff like that.

11. great question. I love good ones like this. Well I think she was
looking at Feb 5 tonight. She has written off SC. I bet Edwards pulled many votes from her tonight for Saturdays race and for Feb 5. I think its Obama's broader appeal across all sectors. I don't think Hillary has that. I think she was trying to provoke him into making a major mistake in advance of Feb 5, instead she shot herself in the foot with a shrill performance. Probably Obama is gaining in the internals in the Feb 5 states. He has been climbing here in Cali. while she has been dropping, and a large Latino group in LA has endorsed Obama last week. I have no real political insight.

23. Its likely this was intentional, the Clintons are all polititcs all the time-
She said this will be a national security election, and the repug's are doing that 'well I'm more John Wayne' than the next guy in their own primary. She's out to prove that she has just as tough a set of balls as any man, southern or otherwise.

Obama gets major labor endorsement
Durazo, L.A. County federation head, cites hopeful's background as part of her motivation.
By Robin Abcarian, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
January 16, 2008
The head of the politically powerful Los Angeles County Federation of Labor said Tuesday that she is endorsing Barack Obama for president.

The endorsement by Maria Elena Durazo is a coup for Obama that could help the Illinois senator in his uphill struggle against Hillary Rodham Clinton to win substantial support among Latino voters in Southern California. Obama has won the backing of other Los Angeles-area Latino leaders, but this is probably his biggest such endorsement yet, given the broad reach of the county labor federation

Obama has won the backing of other Los Angeles-area Latino leaders, but this is probably his biggest such endorsement yet, given the broad reach of the county labor federation.

As executive secretary-treasurer of the federation, Durazo heads an organization of more than 800,000 union members, the biggest regional labor group in California. It includes janitors, teachers, construction and hotel workers as well as supermarket and government employees.

Durazo said her endorsement, to be formally announced today, was a personal one. She is taking a leave of absence from her job to campaign for Obama through Feb. 5, when more than 20 states, including California, will conduct primaries or caucuses.

"My passion is the labor movement, and I believe very strongly that Sen. Obama is very clear about his support for workers who want to organize, workers who want to lift themselves out of poverty, and also protect good middle-class jobs," Durazo said in a phone interview before taking an evening flight to Nevada, where she will work for Obama through the state's Saturday caucuses.

29. I think it was most definitely intentional. There is absolutely
nothing left to chance with the Clinton Machine. Every word, every blink, is contrived. I do think she was unprepared for Obama to stand up to her. After she manipulated the pity vote in NH, she expected him not to take her on. That might have backfired. Otherwise, she did what she set out to do.. I just don't think it's going to have the desired effect. Obama didn't lose anything, she did. One thing we have yet to see is how all these sound bites will be spun by the MSM tomorrow. It could tilt it back her way if they are still intimidated. Remember, she had all her special interest groups writing to MSNBC and other media outlets to protest the way people "treated her". We'll see if the "treat hrc with kid glove" approach is still in effect tomorrow.

Still laughing about the Sybil pictures !!

is that if Hillary loses it will almost certainly be because they didn't follow the bush example of having the previous president hang back say nice things about gov bush and stay out of the fray.

18. hRC did what was needed and got her points across against
obama. HRC was not playing to the sc crowd, hrc was playing to the national audience in those 2/5 states and she did herself very good tonight. Showing the differences in her and obama and the incoherent responses obama gave on issues ie health care, credit card vote, missed votes......Bill clinton has gotten into obama's mind and it showed tonight....Said all weekend that obama was JUKED by Bill and obama fell for the oldest school yard ploy and then once he started in on bill, hrc was there to cut his legs out from under him and she did and this will pay off in those big states on 2/5.....

32. ridiculed? in NH it was largely credited for winning the election for her

It was the Clinton campaign that came out with the cheesy slogan "she found her voice in New Hampshire"

the fact is voters don't like the strongest most intelligent voice. Ultimately they want someone who connects with them, not talks down to them. Thats what she had in NH and is now gone. Bill Clinton was unusual in that he could talk policy and connect at the same time.

A whole bunch of black/hispanic Republicans were nervously critiquing the debate and other race topics on CNN. Very nervous and screechy.

Hillary didn't lose her voice. I heard everything she said without my wireless headphones. I could even hear and see Obama sputterinh is unrehearsed replies to very simple topics.
