Halperin: Obama playing to SC, Hillary playing to the nation
One of the few times I've ever agreed with Halperin.

4. Yep - same here.
The thing I don't understand is why Obama thinks attacking Bill Clinton is a good political strategy.

He doesn't need to do it to win South Carolina - Hillary is not even trying to contest it. And, it won't play well with Dems in the rest of the country. I guess it is his idea of how to get Independents (they are mostly unhappy Repubs) and Repubs to vote for him on Super Tuesday. Or maybe he is trying to shed his wuss factor.

I just think the fact Obama is trying to make race a factor proves he is not a good steward of the civil/human rights movement. It raises the question -who is this guy and is he a Democrat?

White Men Can't Dance. Not racist or anything.

5. I completely agree
She's basically conceded she'll place second or third in SC and is focusing on consolidating her already commanding leads in many of Super Tuesday's delegate-rich States. So, she was speaking more to the Nation tonight than to the audience sitting in the auditorium.

A win in SC will do little for Obama "bump wise" as many fully expect him to walk away with it, so the element of surprise will be lacking.

I think the real story out of SC at the end of the Primary will be the surprisingly strong showing of Edwards. Not enough for him to make any real headway in the race on Super Tuesday (where he languishes in third place in many States so I anticipate him having to drop out by early March due to finances), but enough to take whatever slight momentum Obama might have had coming off a completely anticipated and fully taken-for-granted win.

And I loved how she finally opened the National Box on the whole Rezko deal. Tarnishes Obama's already rickety halo as people ask "who?" and then start Googling away.

6. I agree with that, too.
It was like a DU debate, actually. The hot button moments were things we've discussed to death here. I really liked the way Hillary went after Obama. She made no concession for him being the SC favorite. Instead, she slammed him twice as hard. It seemed to me that she went in there intending to land those specific blows, and I believe it achieved the desired effect. The CNN pundits expressed shock and awe. All in all, I think she chose a very creative debate strategy for that particular contest.
