Tactical question re: Hillary/Barack exchange on responsibility for votes
Edited on Mon Jan-21-08 10:37 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
Hillary served up the fattest softball in political history... a real Quayle vs. Bentsen sized softball, and Barack stepped out of the batter's box rather than hit it.

Hillary said, quite archly, that the problem with Obama is that he has never taken responsibility for any vote he cast.

Everyone watching must have thought the same thing I did: Hillary's most famous vote was for the IWR, and she is famous for not taking responsibility for it.

But Barack didn't want any part of it.

Theory: Barack has good enough political instincts to know that she wouldn't serve up such a fat pitch accidentally. He figured, on the fly, that she had a reason, and he shrewdly declined to find out why she wanted to be thrown in the briar patch. Probably a very sharp move. (Kind of like the legal maxim that you don't ask a witness a question unless you already know what the witness will say.)

Wheels within wheels.

How did everyone else see that exchange?

3. to be honest
I didn't even think of that when it happened. I was probably just as upset as Obama that Hillary was stooping to childish attacks, as evidenced by the massive booing by the audience.
