2. yep, he broke the rules
Desperation will do that to a campaign. Of course, the Clinton Camp has now said they'll start running ads. He still has a huge margin to make up, but this decision by his campaign was stunningly bone-headed in a week of bone-headed decisions.

10. Indeed. And they sought the counsel of one of the people who proposed the pledge
in the first place. She saw no problem with it, hence I'd say they acted in good faith.

But what do I know, what with being an shill and all.

22. It was a national ad on a national cable channel not directed at Florida specifically
and he asked if it would be okay, and was told it would be.

If one of the originators of the pledge was cool with it, why all the hubbub?

to be able to slide it in under the radar of Edwards and Clinton. Now it has backfired in his face and he's angry. To bad.

49. Several people make a promise - one backs out
All the Demo candidates made a pledge. One cannot just pull out and run away laughing. That's a broken promise and a person who can't keep their word is a person we should be thinking twice about before putting in the White House.

Hasn't George Bush taught us that much?

if she thought this violated this pledge, and she said no? If she didn't have a problem with it, I don't understand what the hubbub is?

If he bought the ad last week, it could be on this week. WE usually have a 1-2 day lag time for sots to air on local stations. I work at a local station and we received spots on Friday for McCain, Romney & Guiliani. They all started today.

This particular spot looks like it was a National ad. Not something that could be shown in just Florida. Because it was on my TV as well and I have DirecTV!!!

13. If you try real hard, you might be able to reach 1000 posts by doing only negative Obama spamming..
might want to turn off the caps lock, tho. And try posting some links or articles rather than one-liner opinion pieces and empty rhetoric with name-calling. So glad you could help us out this primary season at DU by elevating the discourse here.

28. Actually, one doesn't hate to "try real hard" at all...Obama has made himself a target of negativity
Saying one thing one day and doing the opposite the next. I think it would be difficult to post anything positive about Obama. A few weeks ago I would have said "Obama is a Democrat" as something positive...but after Obama kissed the shriveled dead butt of Ronald Reagan...I am no longer so sure about that.

29. He was told it was legal:
what an Obama spokesman said:

http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/clinton-says-obamas...

snip//

In a brief statement, Obama spokesman Bill Burton said the campaign consulted with South Carolina Democratic Party Chairwoman Carol Fowler, one of the initiators of the pledge, who “told us unequivocally she did not consider this to be in violation of {a} pledge made to the early states.”

“Both national cable networks told us it would be impossible for us to run advertising nationally that excluded only Florida,” Burton said.
