Obama channels Huckabee in S. Carolina
http://www.taylormarsh.com/

"A Democratic nominee screaming "Committed Christian" in a mailer. Now everyone knows Obama has been hit with email smears saying he is a Muslim. There isn't anything wrong with being a Muslim, but in America you can't get elected president if that's your faith. However, this mailer is about more than pushing back on the floating emails.

This trades on Republican tactics of division, pitting one religion against another. I'm a Christian, who as a young girl wasn't allowed to play with some of the Catholic kids in my neighborhood, because their parents didn't think I was sufficiently spiritually pure.

It follows the same rhetorical vein that Obama started with his Reagan mythologizing.

Are we nominating a Democrat here? Read Jerome. Obama's campaign rhetoric makes it impossible to know if he's a Democrat or a Republican and he's doing it on purpose. It's not just to get elected either. Barack Obama has no allegiances to what the Democratic party stand for, or he'd understand how offensive what he's doing is to so many of us".

1. Taylor Marsh again? I never heard of her until a few days ago.
Blech.

I think we should consider Taylor Marsh an unacceptable source...like we do with Drudge.

3. I'll repeat
The three scourges:

1. Corporatists
2 Conservatives

And last, but not least,

3. FUNDIES

I do not want a closet Theocratist or Corporatist or Conservative, as the Democratic nominee.

Guess that leaves only Edwards :)

4. Are We Nominating a Dem?!?
Yeah, I'd say that was what's happening.

There's no Dem running who needs to prove their bonafides.

When people launch a whispering campaign of lies against you, you must respond. This response often seems defensive...because it is.

Barack Obama IS a committed Christian. So was Martin Luther King Jr who talked about his faith all of the time while fighting to make some of the most profound positive secular social changes in American history. So was Jimmy Carter who made NO SECRET of his Christian faith. Just like it is a fact that Obama's middle name is Hussein it is a fact that his Christian faith is important to him. If HE thinks telling people more about his personal faith helps him make his case that he will be a good President for America that is his business. He is telling the truth unless you question the sincerity of his religous convictions. How voters react to that is their business.

Probably this will help Obama in South Carolina but if it does he will have earned those votes fair and square by accurately pointing to a core aspect of his honest beliefs. If the voters of South Carolina share those beliefs they very well may find that a reason to vote for him. If voters in other states are repelled by those beliefs, well it's a small country. They are out there, may all respond as their individual political conscience dictates.

But being a proud Christian does not equate with being a Republican, even if more Republicans are Christian than are Democrats (and I honestly don't know if that is true.)
