1. Bitch Bumiller
I thought the line of questioning was unbelievably shallow. And Bumiller was unbelievably rude. Anybody know her e-mail? Can't seem to find it on NYT website.

2. nobody
many of the debates have demonstrated just how excellent most of our candidates are ... this debate stunk ...

the panel was so awful that the whole think came across as a bunch of whining people who couldn't get along ... unfortunately, i think this hurt all four candidates ...

and, as an ABB supporter, I must say that Kerry came across the worst in the debate ... i think he got all tangled up playing defense when he probably could easily have kept things on a higher plane ... it's not that i disagreed with most of what he said, but i thought he came across as somewhat "dark and cantankerous" ...

he's had many better performances ...

and the media whores ?? this had to be the worst panel i've ever seen ... rather was totally out of control, as usual, and the others spent more time interrupting than asking questions ... a totally hideous, unprofessional performance ...

3. It depends whether you mean "inside" or "outside" the standard
framework of establishment assumptions.

If you mean "inside," one could quibble whether Kerry's list of policy points or Edwards' charm was more compelling.

If you mean "outside," IMO, Sharpton won by a huge margin, Kucinich did admirably, and the other two were droning bores. I'm a DK guy, but let's give credit where it's due: NOBODY matches Sharpton for the ability to hit extraordinary high notes with power and accuracy, in 10-second statements. His challenge to Bumiller was courageous & magnificent - "calling her out" on her cheap attempts to confine the proceedings to Kerry & Edwards. He said other great things as well, but the shot at Bumiller stands out, because it was something that so badly needed saying.

The main thing to be said about the debate is not along the lines of who won it. Rather, it's the vivid demonstration of how political dialogue has become completely impossible in this country. The media tries to stage a debate, & wants all responses in 30 seconds or so, with only the 2 "safe" candidates allowed to talk, and with moronic questions like "Is God on America's side" being the subjects of "discussion." This was much more of a non-debate than a debate. Everything that would make for a real debate was actively resisted by the media.

4. God won
Apparently He was part of the debate. With the big attendence for Mel's movie and being a topic for the debate and it being Sunday, give one to God.

Lord knows we need him in these Times of The Chimpy.
