Edwards is leading Bush in Kerry's home state.
Edited on Sun Feb-29-04 12:07 AM by disenfranchised
By David R. Guarino/Herald Poll Sunday, February 29, 2004

"North Carolina Sen. John Edwards fares just as well against President Bush in Massachusetts as Sen. John F. Kerry - robbing the hometown front-runner of a signature issue heading into Super Tuesday voting, a new Boston Sunday Herald poll shows.

In general election match-ups, Edwards beats Bush by 23 points in the Bay State while Kerry bests the incumbent by 29 points, the poll found.

The results undercut Kerry's claim to electability, the centerpiece of his ride toward the nomination since a surprise Iowa caucus victory six weeks ago."

This proves my argument. The Democrats in the blue states will still vote for Edwards.
Unlike Kerry, Edwards puts red states like North Carolina in play.

6. Don't fool yourself
I live in NC. Edwards doesn't put NC in play. He wouldn't even win his Senate seat back here.

7. That's funny.
He's leading Bush in the latest poll. If that doesn't put a state into play, I don't know what does.

10. I don't care what that
Survey USA poll said. I know the tone around here. And he wouldn't win his Senate seat here. He barely won it the first time. Clinton couldn't even beat Dole in this state.

12. So Bush would see Edwards leading in a poll and ignore the state?

13. Its more than just one poll....

Also you have to be aware of the fact that winning a NC Senate seat by 51% is considered a landslide... In the last 8 Elections the winner was decided by 51% or less...

:on edit: Also note in this poll has Edwards winning his Senate seat over Burr by 9%

8. Says who......
Edwards has done good things for NC. He stands a very good chance of winning this state in the Primary, and would most likley win his Senate seat back. I know that I'll vote for him!

22. It would be nice if we didn't dupe those who aren't paying attention.
They have all come to believe that Kerry is the most electable because they have this repeated again and again. We should have a true debate whether or not this is the case. Why should we halt debate?

A democrat wins Massachussets! Isn't this news!?

:silly:

Funny though, that in '96 Kerry only won reelection to his senate seat by some 8 points, while clinton won the state by 30 something points.

16. The real headline is:
Kerry, Edwards both Bush beaters: Dixie underdog nearly as `electable' as native son

John Kerry is still 6 pts better than Edwards. What a non-story, really.

17. This polls is worthless
and proves nothing. How much do you think those polled really know about Edwards? Very little.

18. You are being spun by the RW Herald
The story here is that AWOL has no chance in MA and that is good. In addition how does Kerry beating AWOL by 6 more points than AWOL in MA prove electability for Edwards? The Herald will miss no ooportunity to try some anti-Kerry spin - this is absurd.

20. Uh, so who was arguing that blue states wouldn't vote for
Edwards?

I'm pretty sure that Ham Sandwich would take Bush by at least 15 pts. in MA.

21. Exactly!
Sen. Kerry does NOT put any red (ish) states into play, which Sen. Edwards DOES.

For all those 'do the math' folks, re: the race for the nomination, might I suggest that YOU do the math re: the GE?
