Give a low-rating to this story about 200 protestors against Kerry.
The media often ignores protests involving thousands of people.

When thousands of people protested Bush during his last visit to England, it got little coverage here.

But yahoo has a story about 200 people protesting John Kerry featured in its news section all day.

I rated it a 1. Please do the same.

2. done
"We won't sit by and let the American people think that we are going to stand by somebody who stabbed us in the back," said Jerry Kiley, a veteran and one of the protest organizers.

"John Kerry served his country honorably," said Mark Kornblau, New York spokesman for Kerry's campaign. "This protest is being organized by an individual who has made a career of profiting from tragedy."

5. You worry too much
Kerry has got Bush by the balls on the 'war president' issue. The Republican attack about 'where was Kerry' has boomeranged back as 'where was Bush'. There's just no comparison.

6. we know where Kerry was
voting to give the president all the power he wanted to start a war.

I'd say Bush has Kerry right where he wants him.

4. Let's compare this number to, say, the vets that marched against the war
and it doesn't seem so significant. Besides, no matter how many people are marching against it, Fonda didn't go to Vietnam until 2 years later. That fact doesn't change no matter how much certain Republicans want. This is not worthy of the publication it has recieved.

Waving American and South Vietnamese flags and singing the U.S. national anthem, they held up signs saying "Hanoi John," and "Kerry Betrayed Vietnam Vets."

"We won't sit by and let the American people think that we are going to stand by somebody who stabbed us in the back," said Jerry Kiley, a veteran and one of the protest organizers.

Here it comes.

How many times a day ? Bullshit times 50 is still bullshit. But if it makes you feel better, Kerry on.

10. Never underestimate what they can do
A year or two before the last election, I remember my Mother-in-law telling me that, after all their hammering Clinton's "morals," they'd never be able to touch Gore because he was such a straight arrow.

By Nov of 2000, they had almost half of America believing Gore was a "serial liar"

I would never assume that they couldn't touch Kerry on the war issue--there are already letters appearing in the newspapers claiming that AWOL served his country more honorably than Kerry b/c he didn't criticize it like Kerry did.

VETERANS FOR PEACE protesting against Kerry.

They are FURIOUS that he voted for the war and is trading on his vet credentials at the same time.

18. Kerry will continue the occupation of Iraq, Veterans for Peace oppose it
VFP Statement on Bring Them Home Now!

BRING THEM HOME NOW! is a coordinating committee of military families, veterans, active duty personnel, reservists and others opposed to the ongoing war in Iraq and galvanized to action by George W. Bush's inane and insensitive challenge to Iraqi armed occupation resisters to "bring 'em on."

Our mission is to mobilize military families, veterans, and GIs themselves to demand: An end to the occupation of Iraq and other misguided military adventures; and an immediate return of all US troops to their home duty stations.

The truth is coming out. The American public was deceived by the Bush administration about the motivation for and intent of the invasion of Iraq. It is equally apparent that the administration is stubbornly and incompetently adhering to a destructive course. Many Americans do not want our troops there. Many military families do not want our troops there. Many troops themselves do not want to be there. The overwhelming majority of Iraqis do not want US troops there.

Our troops are embroiled in a hopeless regional quagmire.

None of us were deceived about IWR being anything other than a war resolution!

Gotta have their hate for the day.

I would protest Kerry for making more dead service people and adding more disabled vets. But what do I know...I'm just the widow of a vet and the mother-in-law of an AD person., who works closely with VETERANS FOR PEACE.

16. The right wing media won't report 200,000 protesters against Bush
But 200 against Kerry is front page news.

They control the media, and that's going to be a big problem.

17. Reading from the last paragraph
when corporate media gives information in print(if any) it is usually is at the end article. Chomsky's advice start at the end, you will save some time.

Questions about Kerry's anti-war activities arose after some Democrats made an issue of Bush's service in the domestic Air National Guard, questioning whether he showed up for duty in Alabama in the early 1970s.

I can't imagine why the other veterans would question somebody about being AWOL from the Air guard when as * would say "a political war was going on".

I feel proud to know that I can still have the choice to support someone that served in military who also also felt he had to protest "the police action in Viet Nam" (as told in my high school history books). I mean what the hell is the sense of us serving in the military, if all one gets from it is a fascist totalitarian state that don't allow questions.

Serving and knowing that your also protecting such rights gives it a lot more meaning. "Give me Liberty or give me Death" is not a multiple choice.

For all them chicken-hawks that ducked out when they were looking for volunteers, your time has come, please belly up to the bar. The rest of us want to know where in the Hell you were and why any one should be following the orders of such persons that may also result in their death, especially if reasons for service in such hostilities were arranged because of lies, deceit and just about every other kind of chicanery.

Many of us who served are not happy and probably even outraged with such goings on. Spending untold billions to murder innocent people for a lie. What is the definition of a traitor anyway?

20. I think espn has his number
http://espn.go.com/page2/s/wiley/030228.html

"But most of us seem to despise athletes for even thinking in the first place. So a grey-haired man named Jerry Kiley, who said he was a Vietnam veteran, ran onto the court with an American flag, ran right up to Toni Smith, seemingly as if to make her flinch, shrink away, to scream at her, to tell her she, not him, was a disgrace, to intimidate her.

Now was that admirable? Why? Who seemed cowardly? Who's the real red-blooded American in that picture, the athletic girl with a questioning mind and big heart who put her hands on her hips and stood there unafraid, or the old man running up to a young girl to try and bully her, his true intentions, his inner motivations, all covered up, wrapped inside and hidden away in an American flag? You tell me."

21. Who else was there?
http://www.miafacts.org/prankster.htm

Sampley has been at this a while, here's his McCain attack.

"Sampley, who years earlier had defended Bobby Garwood's actions as motivated by the need to survive, now accused McCain of being a weak-minded coward who had escaped death by collaborating with the enemy. Sampley claimed that McCain had first been compromised by the Vietnamese, then recruited by the Soviets.

To those who know McCain and are familiar with his behavior in captivity, the charge is ludicrous. McCain resisted his captors to such a degree that he was isolated in a special prison for troublemakers. He repeatedly refused special favors, including early release, and emerged as a spiritual and religious leader for other prisoners. Nonetheless, Sampley was persistent enough in his claims that the press in McCain's home state of Arizona picked up on the KGB story.

Sampley's antagonism toward McCain stems from the senator's failure to live up to Sampley's idea of how a former POW should embrace the MIA cause. In Sampley's estimation, McCain's personal experience should have caused him to champion the search for live POWs, the way it had Red McDaniel. Instead, McCain focused on the more neutral search for "truth," as well as on the prosecution of charlatans who took money from MIA families.

When McCain took the position that the United States should establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam in return for cooperation on the MIA issue, Sampley was outraged. He believed the United States should not have any dealings with its former enemy. Anyone who said otherwise — specifically, John McCain — was a traitor.

Sampley launched a private war on McCain. He searched into the senator's background, digging up old school records, military reports, and the like. Among his finds was an obscure clipping from a Cuban newspaper dated 1970. The article contained high- lights of a Cuban psychiatrist's interview with POW McCain."
