Isn't it ironic that so many on this forum and in the electorate in general see Kerry as still too much DLC-DNC-Corporate-etc? Maybe John Kerry will be a Gavin Newsome type surprise. Corporate on the outside but a human being within.

1. People disagree with specific votes by Kerry.
Some people disagree with his votes on financial-industry consolidation, the Iraq War, and/or the Patriotic Act.

I don't know why some magazine thinks he's so liberal.

2. I believe his voting record gets excellent marks from liberal
organizaitons that rate voting records. Offhand, I can't remember which groups. I can remember reading that he's been ranked higher than Kennedy.

8. The National Journal
just did a study of congressional votes and declared that Kerry had the most liberal voting record in the Senate.

Americans for Democratic Action rates Members of Congress and they've given Kerry a higher lifetime rating than Kennedy.

4. I suspect a lot of 'liberal' should properly be 'neoliberal'.
I.e., corporatist. Because if you look at 'liberal' politicians, you really do see what the Goldwater conservatives derided as 'tax and spend'.

5. There are certain votes in recent years that are less than liberal.
Everyone knows what they are.

9. That's very cute, but not very helpful.
I don't think the Bush/PNAC agenda is as quite as obvious as you might think it is, but taken as a whole, these past three years, Kerry still has a very liberal record. You focus too much on certain votes.

10. LOL
Nothing could be further from the truth. No President has opposed Bush more than John Kerry. Not Russ Feingold, not Ted Kennedy, not Hillary Clinton or Chuck Schumer, not even the late Paul Wellstone.

12. Kerry's answer
to Larry King's question in Thursday's debate should give people a good look at where his heart is:

"KING: What would be the first executive order?

KERRY: Reverse the Mexico City policy on the gag rule so that we take a responsible position globally on family planning."
