2. But they had big ideas like tax cuts!
An idea so revolutionary, it was apparently unheard of until 1980!

13. vouchers, privatization, deregulation, outsourcing
All of which Clinton tried, or suggested trying, in one form or another. They've run their course and are left arguing over tax cuts, which is all they have left.

Of course, I'm sure you understand that no matter how hard you try to convince people you're perplexed.

3. Thank you

It seems there are some people left not taken over by the pods yet.

I swear sometimes I feel I am on a republican blog in here, the way they are attacking Bill Clinton.

4. Surplus is a Democratic value? I wasn't aware of that.
And are you crediting Clinton with all the technological advances that let productivity increase in an unprecedented fashion, fueling economic growth? I mean, Gore took a lot of heat about his comments about the internet, but I never heard Bill say he invented routers and productivity suites and SONET rings...

8. LOL - Clinton let Greenspan put him in the Reagan camp
Clinton wanted more spending and Greenspan threatened him, so he caved.

14. Unemployment Was 3.9% Under Clinton
The poverty rate was 12.3% under Clinton, lowest in a generation...

African American and Hispanic unemployment was at its lowest point in a generation...

Bill Clinton's and Robert Rubin's fiscal prudence gave folks the incentive to invest...In our system it's the private sector that creates jobs...

Do you really think Ronald Reagan was a better economic steward?

17. I question your cause and effect assertion.
Was it deficit reduction, or Greenspan keeping interest rates low? Or was it that productivity gains from technological advances and adoption funded increased economic activity?

We are getting further and further away from my topic...

I cited myriad metrics that suggest Clintonomics was more effective than Reagonmomics, nothing more, nothing less...

22. This is a correct recounting of history.
I distinctly recall the markets rebounding after they saw how policy was being directed to reduce the deficit.

24. Democrats run closer to balanced budgets
It's been that way for almost 50 years. Even though we sometimes advocate expansions in some areas, we balance it out by creating efficiencies in others. Republican presidents tend to increase debt. Here's a link to a graphic of it.

29. That is abundantly clear.

Annualized gains shown above are based on the closing price on the last trading day of each calendar year. And right now the S&P 500 is lower than it was when Junior first assumed the presidency. :(

21. Executive Pay Vs. Average Worker Pay? I Want My Irrational Exuberance!!
To be fair, Reagan was my stand-in for the devil until Dubya came around (with some milky Dems kowtowing behind, natch). But let's not forget that Clinton's record was very mixed, whatever the macro economic statistics might have stated. There was a reason so many of us were thirsty for a third party run like Nader (I voted Gore!!).

In any case, I don't see any point to this thread at all. We all know that Obama is more liberal than Clinton, but there's nothing quite so fun as muddying the waters a bit, huh?

30. Clinton's was also the cleanest administration of the 20th century.
As measured by the total number of convictions and forced resignations within his administration, Clinton's was the cleanest two-term administration since Teddy Roosevelt. Shows you how incredibly biased the U.S. media are.

By this same measure, the Reagan administration--so beloved of Obama supporters--was by far the most corrupt administration in U.S. history. The Reagan gang would sometimes rack up more convictions and forced resignations IN A SINGLE DAY than the Clinton administration managed in its entire eight years.
