Charles Barkley is campaigning with Edwards
Edited on Sat Feb-28-04 06:51 PM by Bombtrack
they just showed him standing behind him at a Georgia ralley. Barkley turned left-leaning it seems when he wrote his book with liberal sports writer Michael Wilbon. They (Barkley and JE) seemed to be having a good time.

It's nice to see him enjoying the political process instead of just commenting on it as an ocasional opinion on a talk show

4. Enough with the Barkley Bashing
I adore Charles Barkley.

Yeah, he has a big mouth.

Yeah, his mouth gets him into trouble at times.

But I think he's adorable.

11. Agreed. Barkley is awesome.
Obviously funny as hell, but also smart as hell.

I think he is becoming more liberal as his time from the NBA increases.

Govenor of Alabama.

16. barkley is the man
and Inside the NBA is the best sports show on the air today IMO. Do I agree with Barkley 100 percent of the time... no but he always speaks honestly and is willing to admit mistakes when he sees them. ALso he is the chuckster for christ sakes.. 6'6 man dominating the PF in the NBA is a feat that will never be repeated.

5. I am glad to hear this.
Barkley did say "the only candidate that floats my boat is John Edwards".

Didn't he run (or threaten to run) for something?

9. I distinctly recall that he was a rethug
I remember him discussing a converstion with his mother, where she told him that republicans only stood for rich people. His reply was something like, "mom, I am rich."

Glad to hear he's no longer seduced by the dark side of the force.

10. Guy who laughed at the dean scream in the half time of a game?
Thought it was disgusting - at a time where CBS refised the Moveon ad.

13. I actually liked Dean more than ever after the scream...
...especially when talk shows kept playing it over and over.

"Blah, blah, blah."

YE-ARE-HHHHHHHHHHH!!!

"Blah, blah, blah."

YE-ARE-HHHHHHHHHHH!!!

"Blah, blah, blah."

YE-ARE-HHHHHHHHHHH!!!

It was funny, but after that, my opinion of Dean changed.

I used to hate him, but I actually started to feel sorry for him, and in the end, I actually ended up liking him and admiring him for what he did, because he finally was reduced to what I saw as a "REAL PERSON" whereas, at first, he came across as mean and arrogant.

When they finally got to him, he took off the mask, and people actually saw more of who he really was. That's why the media even began to say that they overplayed it, because at first, they saw the same "MEANLOOKING, ARROGANT ACTING" man that most people saw which attributed to his downfall, but then they began to see him a just another guy...

hints at running for gov as a repug? - he's a loud mouth idiot!

did I expect objectivity at a political forum? - no

did I expect this much humor? - no, but a good chuckle is always worthwhile.

edit: forgot question mark

19. Barkley's a...
funny guy. He's always said he's an independant, but he had good things to say about Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, with regards to how they relate to African Americans.

I found him amusing on Hardball and Bill Maher's show. He seemed to dislike the amount of power corporations have and generally sounded pretty liberal on most issues...He also espoused tolerance for gays, whick is impressive for someone who was in sports.

Good for Edwards. Barkley may have been an obnoxious ass hole in the past (I don't know much about it), but from what I've seen, I agree with his politics.
