Edwards spoke at the SEIU in L.A. today

It was a large crowd, especially considering that it was announced for the lunch hour and started late -- after some had to leave to go back to work.

The crowd was very receptive to everything Edwards said, but assurances that he will respect the Constitution, close Guantanamo, end warrantless surveillance and torture got especially enthusiastic support. It was a great day in L.A. thanks to Edwards' visit.

As was John's daughter, Cate. I was thrilled to get the oportunity to shake her hand. I told her, "Tell your mom we love her." She responded with a thank-you and and beautiful, gracious smile.

For me it was a 7 hour event, driving from the hinterlands of Ventura County, picking up my son in West LA, waiting for JE to arrive an hour late, having lunch (finally) and then fighting the traffic back home. But truly worth it.
