I :applause: Hillary. I also hesitate to read too much into her remarks.

Clinton won't rule out Obama as veep
Posted at 8:03 PM
by Glenn Thrush

(NORTHRIDGE, CAL.) -- Hillary Rodham Clinton sorta, kinda, maybe suggested that Barack Obama just might be a fine running mate during a q-and-a session at U.C. Northridge..

A middle-aged man in a bangled leather jacket over a "Bronx" T-shirt asked the senator if she'd consider making Obama her running mate.

She replied: "Let me say that I cant think that far ahead because it's bad luck - I'm very superstitious and i don't want to be presumptuous -- but he is an extraordinary man and he has so much to give our country and I hope that however this works out that he will be a major figure in American politics for years to come... I certainly support that." (Thunderous applause)

3. Four liberal Democratic terms, guaranteed
Someone suggested John Edwards for Attorney General in the event he isn't the nominee.

That would be an unbeatable combination for 16 years -- with the emergence of "new blood" in a few years, it could extend the New Liberalism to half a century.

--p!

7. He'd have to think very carefully about doing that.
He would no longer be able to run as a transformational candidate ever again. He would be Hillary's Al Gore, playing second fiddle for eight years before running on her record, carrying her baggage, generally being seen as a continuation of the Clinton dynasty.

If I'm Obama, I don't take it; I go back to the Senate.

12. I don't think she'd take it, likewise for Biden
They'd both be great *but* they're too powerful in their own right. Frankly they're older then Obama they don't have 8 years to wait. Biden & Clinton are policy wonks too.

18. Hillary would never take that, nor would Obama offer it.
Edited on Thu Jan-17-08 11:08 PM by Occam Bandage
She would not be #2 to a first-term Senator, and she would bring little if anything to his ticket; her baggage outweighs her positives.

29. I hope not.
Obama has really disappointed me lately. He would lose me forever if he put Hillary on the ticket. He's "reached out" to the Republicans enough. It's time he remembers they are NOT the majority of this country, if he wants to win an election (i.e. tap into that 50% of the population that hasn't voted since both parties started running corporatists.)

10. but if hillary's black support is shaky and Obama unifies the party
I think he does it. Winning this election should be more important than personal ambition.

Supporters turn any innocuous remark into a racial thing.

What exactly is wrong with the term black support?

21. "Winning this election should be more important than personal ambition."
The same held for '04, and the mutual tension caused by Edwards' refusal to play by Kerry's strict rules was an open secret. Never underestimate the egos of politicians.

Based on reports by people that "The Clintons" have frozen out of their illustrious inner circle, they nurture resentments. :scared:

She's much too smart to miss a beat. She, like Bill, thrives on the opportunities they get to speak when responding to smart-ass questions. When will folks learn?
