Why Are DUers Citing The Rasmussen Poll....
The poll is a joke....

It had * beating Gore by 7% on election day.....

That and the Battleground Poll skewed Puke even though the Battleground Poll has a Dem pollster and Puke pollster working together....

The Rasmussen poll consists of a machine calling random numbers and asking questions...

What kind of person is going to talk to a machine?

2. Rasmussen should be treated like Drudge, Fox,
rasmussen should be treated like drudge, fox news (which rasmussen works for, or at least does analysis for), wall street journal, washington times etc.

it's ok to cite these polls, but i just want people to be cautious and take the source into consideration as we do when it's drudge and other right wing sources.

i remember this poll from 2000 and how right wingers kept citing rasmussen. it even claimed bush was winning california and close in new york and other weird stuff at times.

3. His Poll Is A Joke...
A machine calls you up and says Kerry is 1, Edwards is 2, etctera, now pick one or two...

Gimme a break...

I ignored Rasmussen and Battleground....

I remember how Fox and Michael Barone were "pimping" the Battleground Poll and Rasmussen's Portrait Of America poll...

6. yes, this is true
this is why his polls are so volatile . for some reason this machine method is favorable to republicans though. i guess they are more likely to just be at home more often or take these machine polls seriously. true scientific polling takes into account many factors and is very careful to get an accurate sampling of the population they want polling results for. this requires having to call back if nobody picks up.

...than most polls, and Zogby is the master joker.

He has been so wrong this primary season that he has become laughable.

5. I Have Problems With Zogby Too
Edited on Sat Feb-28-04 12:36 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
but at least his methodology is credible...

There's an association of pollsters... I forgot the name...

I tend to trust their members which include Gallup, Harris, Pew, Marist and others...

Before I get slammed I know Gallup had major problems in 00 but they were spot on for the mid terms...

As someone who has done post grad work in Poli Sci and spent too many hours to mention crunching numbers I can tell you polling is part art and part science....

It's not a lab experiment under sterile conditions where all the variables can be controlled...
