Kerry Supporters: Do you feel vindicated?
For months you heard how Kerry's campaign was dead and how dean was going to be the nominee or how Clark was going to steal Kerry's thunder against bush.

Now that it's down to 4 with Kerry going nowhere but to Washington in Nov....Do you feel you've been vindicated yet from all the nay sayers that have come on board?

While Kerry was always my second choice, I really had hopes Clark would be the man, and there were times I let that hope go negative when Kerry turned on Clark.

I commend all the Kerry supporters that chose him for their first choice and haven't lost site of your vision.

Congratulations!

3. Not so much vindicated because I would have supported others
but glad he turned it around, which I credit in large part to Mary Beth Cahill and her expertise along with the fact that he relied on GETTING out and meeting with people on the ground rather than advertising.
For the longest time, it appeared to me that he didn't even want to be president bad enough.

I was bummed he started late but suspect his medical problems and lack of financial support caused some of that.

All in all, I DO think he can get elected. I thought he did great in the debate last night and I DO think he won't turn a blind eye to more progressive people in the party.

5. I've always felt
Edited on Fri Feb-27-04 06:00 PM by cheryl27
it was just part of the primary season. This is how it is, always has been and always will be. It's part of competition just like in "real" life where only one can win.

There's no sense of vindication...this is just how the system works. The only frustration I felt was when vicious attacks were made by DUer's who were obviously very new to the political arena.
Do I like it? No, I wish it could be "nicer" but as we all know the pugs aren't nice.

It's nice that our MeetUps don't feel like a funeral anymore!

I got so damn tired of hearing the pompous Dean supporters saying, "President Dean, get used to it..." every time candidate comparisons were made.

13. after the constant slagging Kerry took pror to Iowa
on this board... the only honest answer is yes. Especially when it comes to the Dean people around here who trashed Kerry and his supporters as a way of life. Some of them are still doing it...

Clark never bothered me, he was my second choice.

It kept my spirits up during the more heated battles that went on for months at a time.

All I care about is that BushInc. will be crushed and done so by the most liberal candidate in my lifetime. True joy for this liberal BFEE watcher.

I just mean that I don't need other people's votes to confirm that I'm right. I'm glad that he's ahead, because I think it will be good for the nation, but I'm not concerned with how it makes me feel. It's just me. Not that there's anything wrong with that! :-)

23. Kerry supporters deserve congratulations..
I saw almost no Kerry support on DU, and the state and national polls did not look good for him early on.

Kerry stuck it out, his supporters stayed true and kept their eyes on the prize, and now look how far he has come.

Further, I think Kerry supporters have posted some of the more sensible, realistic and well thought comments on this forum throughout the primary season.

I am not a big Kerry fan. I still think Edwards would have been a better nominee.

Saying that, I am willing to get behind Kerry and support him going forward.

Congratulations to the Kerry folks. Hope your guy will consider Edwards for the V.P. slot ;)

42. What kind of pathetic twits base their opinions of candidates...
on the postings of anonymous members of a message board? Unbelievable.

FWIW: I have supported both Kerry and Kucinich. And as a matter of fact, I am casting my Tue. primary vote for DK (in an attempt to increase his delegate count) I certainly prefer Kucinich as the "progressive conscience of the party"

"Loyal Democrat"? The poster you so chivalrously defend has stated that they will not vote for Kerry in Nov.

BTW: It's "dis", not "diss"

Before he made the final decision to enter the campaign in December 2002.

Never doubted that he had a chance to turn the campaign around even when he was at the lowest point in the polls. That sort of thing always happend when he was running for the office, and except for one loss, and he always came up from behind.

Thanks.

30. Kerry has clear and concise goals for America
After viewing the debate, I was impressed that Kerry was able to answer the questions honestly. He seems to have put a lot of thought into his plans for the United States, and he is confident about implementing them. Unlike the other candidates who I felt were appealing to what the audience wanted to hear. America needs a President who is willing to take a stand, even if it is not a popular one. America needs a leader not a follower. His financial plan for the economy is practical and realistic. Keeping it simple should be the goal, especially since we have experienced ridiculous financial times.

Vote on Tuesday!

31. I Feel Almost Awkward Because Of Dean Supporters
As sweet as it has been to see Kerry get his due, it's kinda hard to feel vindicated when I see so many people here that put their heart and soul into one of the other campaigns, only to have it come crashing down. This is especially true with the Dean supporters. Although there were some outright jerks making alot of noise, it was mostly decent people behind him, and it gives Kerry's victories a mixed feeling because it is also hard watching people take such lumps on the way. That may be normal for politics (there's always winners and losers), but it is still a little hard for me personally.

34. Thanks for the sentiment, DrF
I'm a hurting, disappointed Dean supporter, but I remain resolute that Bush must be removed from office this year. If Kerry's the one, fine. If it's Edwards, fine. I just want to watch The Inaguration and feel a sense of hope instead of fear in 2005...

Edited on Sat Feb-28-04 11:16 AM by w4rma
Kerry only won the right to try and unite the Democratic Party behind him to fight Bush in the general election. This fight, the true fight, will require Edwards, Clark, Sharpton, Dean, Lieberman, Graham, Kucinich, Braun, and Gephardt supporters' help.

There appear to be many Kerry folks who seem to want to nurture a sense of schadenfreude among supporters of the other candidates. The majority of Kerry supporters, who are polite and good folks, need to start to call out this minority whenever possible.

I've been trying to keep folks within the Democratic Party, but Kerry folks need to help and not by trying to force folks into doing it via loyalty oaths.

44. I feel relieved,
and generally less alienated from the rest of America. Call me insane or flame away, but during the "Dark Ages" I never understood why Kerry wasn't the front-runner. I couldn't figure out what people were thinking of by abandoning him, especially if they were interested in actually beating Bush. Bring on the psychologists and sociologists! When there's more distance from the actual events, the tell-all memoirs and brutal demographic breakdowns should make for some wild books. The role of the media and blogosphere in boosting for such a long time one certain Kuchinichesque candidate yet not others really hasn't been addressed enough, I think. It's been very strange. Strange enough so that I'm still cautious about what weirdness lies ahead. :scared: :tinfoilhat:  :scared: :tinfoilhat:  :scared: :tinfoilhat:  . I think it has been a wild ride for a lot of people, and it's still just the primaries :eyes: !
