I posted this b/c

1) just for goodwill to the Kerry people and the political process

2) WOW! $150 for a "young" people event?!? OK, it isn't a $2500 a plate lunch, but it seems a bit steep for the "young" voter type event. This type of thing re-assures me that Kucinich is the candidate for me. I went to a $20 Kucinich fundraiser last weekend.

1. $150 and you still have to pay for drinks?
Theresa should buy everyone free tickets. I think the Kerry people may have forgotten the income level of your average Democrat!

2. The $150 cash bar doesn't dissuade me
It's the fact that Bronson Van Wyck is going to be there!

4. You talkin' to me? You must be talkin' to me...
The Belz is a Kerry fan? I never knew. I can't go to this event, however, as I've slept with at least two girls on this list and there's still a lotta...tension. But y'all Kerry fans should go, at least to meet Chris Heinz. He's first-rate fascinating.

5. And I went to a FREE Kerry event a week ago

They politely asked for donations and got some. Seriously, this isn't even a good smear. Like somehow you are excluded from supporting a candidate because you can't afford some of the fundraising events. Even if this were a $2000 event that wouldn't mean anything. Running for President is expensive and will be even more so once the $200 million dollar shrub enters the fray for real. The candidate is going to need the backing of the wealthy, it's that simple.

Your post implies two things. Firstly that Kerry's supporters are wealthy, and secondly that Kerry's campaign is exclusionary. The truth of the matter is that some of Kerry supporters are wealthy and that some of the events are exclusionary due to the cost involved. However, there are a lot of Kerry supporters who couldn't have afforded that $20 Kucinich event.

What I'm really trying to understand is how any of what you put into your post is meant to garner support for Kucinich (whom I think is a great man and would make a great president but whom I wont be voting for ).

7. agreed, $$$$$$$$ is needed
Many of Kerry's policies would certainly help working people. And yes, $$$ is needed for a campaign. I have never seen a "young" people's fundraiser for that much money and not even include open bar.

It is hardly meant to be a "smear." - if anything I would consider this post to help publicize Kerry's event and fund raising efforts.

12. That's kind of reasonable for young in NYC
It wasn't outrageous when I was 20-something in Manhattan. A loooong time ago.

13. I Went To A Similar Event For $40
And I know for a fact that the campaign took a hit for doing it. It was a great show, with Moby and Chic playing on the Intrepid. I had a total blast. I'm sure this will be awesome, too.

Being a Jersey boy, $150 is a little steep. But it's really not that much for the Manhattan 25-40 set they're wooing.

And as far as Kucinich prices, I don't want to insult anyone, but Kucinich is just looking to cover expenses, not compete against Bush.

17. 150 is pretty good for NYC , and it is a fundraiser isn't it ?
for a fundraiser it's reasonable, especially in NYC. i don't think john kerry will be at this event. most events with kerry himself are free, but have to get there very early to see him.
