This Is Probably A Stupid Question-
But I'm interested in the opinions of others here at DU.

If America doesn't have some serious but uncomfortable problems in terms of equality-

Racial -Sexual -Economic- _____ could anyone- Hillary, Barack, or their supporters, "inject" anything into this campaign that doesn't exist to begin with?

Opening a "Pandora's box" that has already been emptied, shouldn't be a big deal.

Is it possible that the rage that we are experiencing and witnessing, is to a large degree fueled by our own wounded places, vulnerabilities, and history?

What can we do to use this as an opportunity for America to do some long overdue self-assessment?

Any thoughts?

thanks~

1. You're on to something...
about how we still haven't fully come to grips with our history.

And there are a lot of people whose indentities are wrapped up in these rights struggles. Some can't accept that a cigar is sometimes just a cigar-- to deny their pet "ism" is a threat to them.
