Chicago Sun-Times endorses Obama!
Note: The Sun-Times editorially is fairly conservative, and was stridently pro-Iraq War. They praise Hynes and Pappas too - it's pretty long, but here's a link and a some clips.

This Democrat Senate pick can hit the ground winning

February 27, 2004

Illinois Democrats are fortunate to have a field of excellent candidates in the March 16 primary election for the U.S. Senate...

Obama is a rising star with impressive political skills and a keen intellect. A constitutional law professor and civil rights attorney who has served seven years in the state Senate, Obama has the hands-on experience that, were he elected, would shorten the time it would take for him to become a major player on the national stage. Although we do not agree with Obama on every issue, notably the war on Iraq, we fully expect that he could be a compelling voice on issues vital to Illinois...

As a senator, Obama vows to support equalizing school funding. His jobs creation proposal that would require replacing existing tax breaks for companies that move jobs overseas with tax incentives for firms that create good-paying jobs in the U.S. resonates with both families and corporations. Ideas like that make him the best choice as the Democrats' standard-bearer in November...

Chicago Tribune comes out tomorrow (Sunday actually, but it will in stores Saturday AM). Does anyone know about the St. Louis Post Dispatch, Southern Illinoisan, State Journal Register (Springfield), Rockford Register Star, or others?

1. "Illinois Democrats are fortunate to have a field of excellent candidates"
Truer words have never been spoken. We will have an EXCELLENT nominee, regardless of who it is. You can chalk this seat up as 'D', come November!

Great endorsement for Obama!

:)

3. Yes. Hynes is campaigning hard downstate.
It's almost comical downstate (where I live), because every time you turn around, there's Dan. He's trying to duplicate what Blagoevich did, which turned out to be pretty smart; downstate Dems gave RB his primary victory. :)

5. Why was this baseball destroyed last night?

I recall going to games in the 50/60s where announced was 500 or less - and you could count and know that was an overstatement.

Now the have a great team and a lot of fans - so where was the "curse" that was to be destroyed?

Oh yeh - by the way - Congrats to Obama on the SunTimes Editorial page endorsement!

:-)
