Just from reading freeper comments on this forum over the past few months, it is really not too tough to come up with a platform that is profoundly different than GW, and would appeal greatly to people on this forum. But, the Dems really haven't done that yet. Kucinich, oddly enough, is hitting those freeper positions once in awhile - more often than GW seems to be sometimes.

The public forum lacks substance. It's as simple as that.

Unelectable the corporate-pandering DLC says. Hmmmm....

I'll be kind and not post what they think of the other candidates. It's too bad the Dems don't get it and we're letting the media decide who's electable. Dems want swing votes? NAFTA, WTO, health-care. THOSE are swing-voting issues!

2. Because they either support the DLC corporate pandering
or they have allowed the DLC to once again tell them that only the DLC and the corporate media know who is electable and who is not.

If we don't sell out to the corporations and support their globalization then we might attract real votes from real people with real issues. We can't have that. Could lead to dangerous revolutionary things like universal single-payer health-care, job security for workers, a cut Pentagon budget, not enough wars and occupation, a stop to the destruction of the environment so corporations can patent food.

WEll you know... all the things most people want...

3. They hate having their privacy invaded too.
Don't know why. If they haven't done anything wrong....

DK will repeal the Patriot Act. But that's not important. We don't want any of those Republican votes, just swing voters who...might...not...vote...at...all...

But they could give two shits about "your" privacy. Don't kid yourself.

5. Yep.
First, the CORPORATE media made John Kerry the candidate he is today and the corporate, monopolistic media can take him down when it suits them, too. Kerry, like Bush, has loser potential.

When one stops thinking in terms of republican vs. democrat, everything starts to become clear.

most republicans value what most democrats do. first and foremost, no one wants their kids getting killed in a war that Bush LIED to us about. Bush pledged not to engage in nation-building like Clinton did. Too bad that all the presidents seem to want to engage in nation-building and giving away American jobs to the lowest bidders overseas they can find.

7. Give this info to the freepers
Kucinich is the only candidate meeting this qualification.

http://sierratimes.com/03/12/29/ar_carlworden.htm

I am a Christian conservative who voted for Bush in 2000, and I write for a largely conservative and excellent Internet news and opinion publication called The Sierra Times. Remarkably, the positive responses I received from that article ran 8 to 2, 2 being those who said I was dead, absolutely DEAD wrong. The fact that largely conservative readers responded as positively as they did, means I am not wrong, and I am sticking to my prediction that Howard Dean will be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States.

The issue that I believe will put Dean right over the top will be his condemnation of NAFTA/GATT, free trade, and his pledge to end our participation in the World Trade Organization. If Dean wants to win by a comfortable margin, all he has to do is THAT. The massive number of red states that voted for Bush last election will turn to blue, and Dean will waltz into the White House like a halfback who strolls untouched into the end zone. End of game.

Of course, I have no idea what Dean’s position is on free trade, NAFTA/GATT or the WTO. As far as I know, he hasn’t said. Maybe he’s saving that for the finishing shot. I’m speculating of course, but Mr. Dean, if you are reading this, I just gave you the keys to the White House.

8. You're right.
See this for more info on Dean's opinions on trade:
http://www.issues2000.org/2004/Howard_Dean_Free_Trade.htm

Kucinich is the only candidate who has come out agaist NAFTA, WTO and the ILLEGAL invasion of Iraq in absolute terms. He is principled, intellegent and unlike Kerry and Edwards, delivers no canned speeches. He can discuss any issue off the cuff with both expert knowledge and clarity of conviction and vision.

So, yes, I can see that Kucinich would have wide-ranging appeal. Character is a must for many voters.

10. That's one of the many things that attracted me to DK long ago:
His ability to answer any question thrown at him. You know how he does it? Of course he has given most of these issue much study and thought, but the real reason he can answer practically any question asked is that he simply tells the truth. He doesn't look at how the answer will "play" or who he will upset, he just tells the truth. He tells what he really believes, not what you want to hear. When the other candidates are asked questions and they say things like "well, I haven't really thought about that." That tells you that the candidate has not yet decided what the "politically viable" answer is yet. When a candidate who has been in politics and the government for any length of time does not have a faily solid answer on a major issue - he isn't telling the truth. I love DK for his simple, straight-foreward, truth. If you desagree with him, he is willing to discuss the issue and explain it, but he won't lie to you about.

12. I think many people are (and would) like Dennis's honesty.
I think that many people, all over the poltical spectrum, would totally respect this guy if they gave him a chance, listened to him, saw him speak. Dennis is truly an honest politician. I think a lot of people really want this sort of honesty for a change. Also, he is just damn intelligent and compassionate.
The great thing about Dennis being president would be that it would make people feel better about the American dream again, cuz he grew up poor, without priveleges and he made became a politician without ever losing his soul. I think people would vote for him, because it would set a new direction for this country and widen and awaken our expectations of what this country can become.

17. Another nice rant you can pass on
The Job Loss Tornado:

As was predicted by a laughed-at Ross Perot, the "great sucking sound" of American jobs fleeing the country is in full howl. Thank you, NAFTA, thank you, WTO, thank you, China Trade Agreement.

When the time came to decide wether or not to start up the great Job Loss Tornado, both Kerry and Edwards puckered up and BLEW. Now they want to take their beanie-cap propellers and fan a little breeze and a lot of smoke here and there, tweaking these monstrous trade agreements, the Free Jobs For Foreign Workers Agreement Collection. Kerry wants to give us three months notice before we give more jobs away to countries with far lower wages forever.

ONLY Dennis Kucinich voted against NAFTA and the WTO. ONLY Dennis Kucinich has vowed to repeal these agreements as fast as the treaties allow if elected. ONLY Dennis Kucinich makes less than $100,000.00 per year of these candidates. ONLY Dennis Kucinich has a full and detailed plan to create new jobs by rebuilding our infrastructure and implementing clean energy produced right here at home. ONLY Dennis Kucinich believes what he is saying and will follow through on it without delay or hesitation. ONLY Dennis Kucinich would make manufacturing capabilities a national security priority.

I would strongly suggest that everyone remember which side their bread is buttered on, and walk their "made in China" shoes right on down to their voting booth. That's where WE decide whether or not to keep on blowing jobs right on out of America.

13. get rid of the parties?
and Dennis (or any non-independently wealthy progressive) wouldn't have enough money to compete with Bush in the election, or make his way through the 1,000 or more other candidates running as independents. Non-partisan races are for the rich.

The party brings legitimacy.

14. Kucinich's "repeal Nafta" platform could take 20% of Bush's base
on that issue alone. No other Dem could.

I agree. NAFTA was the issue that perot ran on, and EVERYONE was pissed off about it. I think it's a very strong issue for a lot of people, too.
