Are there any Deaniacs here who will vote for Nader?
This thread is NOT flame bait BTW. I know there are some Deaniacs on DU who have said they won't vote for a pro-War candidate in November, ableit a minority of Deaniacs. If you are a Deaniac and you have made up your mind to vote Nader, post hereif you want and give your reason why.

1. Not this Dean supporter - I think most of us know the stakes involved
in this election. I'd venture to say that most Dean supporters will vote for Kerry.

I'll vote for the Democratic nominee regardless, unless its Zell Miller. Then I might vote for someone else.

7. Don't worry about Zell
There's not a snowball's chance he'll get nominated...no matter what brokered convention scenario could play out.

6. I would sooner drink poison
I am not a fan of Kerry's but I will vote for the man if he wins the nomination. But, even if for some reason that weren't true, Nader wouldn't be the beneficiary. I would sooner vote Green or Socialist.

Regardless of what my preference might be...getting * out of the People's house is the most important issue.( Nader's a bottom feeder IMHO).

13. I might, but would really rather write in Dean.
I'm not voting for any pro-war candidate, and my first inclination is to write-in Dean, but for the sake of unifying the left-of-center 3rd party vote, i could vote nader.

What about the likelihood of W. starting another war if he gets another term, versus the smaller chance that Kerry would start a war?

22. Not Nader, but Green.
I'm not sure if I qualify as a "Deaniac". I supported his candidacy as an alternative to the DLC "not too liberal" bunch we are stuck with but I never thought he was the messiah.

Nader is just a nuisance at this point, so I'll be voting Green for Prez and Dem for my anti-war senator (Murray) and anti-war rep (Baird).

The Repbubs and moderate Repubs(D) can slug it out for the spoils offered by the corporations.

33. No.
Nader had his turn already, and this year he's apparently gotten in bed with the Fred Newmanite cult. So, Ralph doesn't get a vote this year.

That doesn't necessarily translate into an automatic vote for Kerry though. He will have to earn it during the campaign.

36. no, but i did stay at a holiday inn express last night...
but really, go explore the third parties. u only have 8 months to study it. forget the dnc deanies. they dont want u. they dont want change. theyll take ur money and vote but not your opinions.

here is a snip of the myth about nader costing gore the election too...

"It is true that had Gore had won a portion of Nader’s vote in Florida or New Hamphire, he would have won these states’ electoral votes and moved into the White House. But votes for Pat Buchanan of the right-wing Reform Party were greater than George Bush’s margin of defeat in Wisconsin, Oregon, Iowa and New Mexico in 2000--yet no one called Buchanan a "spoiler."

The Democrats’ complaints about Nader assume that our votes "belong" to the two mainstream parties--and any third party challenge is, by definition, stealing them from their rightful owners. This reasoning allows Democrats like Al Gore to position themselves just barely to the left of their Republican opponents, offering nothing to the party’s liberal and working-class base but their claim to be the "lesser evil."
