After AeroMexico, a Mexican airline, had filed a trademark application for "Sí se puede" with the US Trademark Office, lawyers for the United Farm Workers defended the phrase as the intellectual property of the UFW. After litigation, AeroMexico agreed not to use the phrase and abandoned its trademark application.<1>

Plenty of groups have used the phrased (in and outside the United States), but I'm guessing none of them tried to trademark it. I think even Dean used it in 2004. I'm sure as long as Obama doesn't try to trademark it, there will be no problems.

You cite the AeroMexico example, but that is a different situation. That was a business that was trying to trademark the expression for commercial purposes.

the Kiddy Army is not astute enough to figure that out. Anything that their wee and inexperienced minds conclude is a criticism of their candidate is attacked, never thought about. For several days I have said over and over that what I am trying to do in some small miniscule way is to help fine tune the campaigns of the eventual nominee. Obama of late has shown the most cracks, most small, but maybe overlooked and small leaks grow. But Noooooo the Kiddies cannot run with info, they must attack like puppies with a sock or kitteens with a ball of string...that is what young animals do. I am aimong for the older heads, the experienced ones that have, like me, been through this political bs more than a few times.

Who are the consumers of the "Si se puede" brand of services? Are they likely to be confused between the UFW message and Obama's use? Does the UFW really care if Obama uses the mark? His campaign is not he same as AeroMexico's ad campaign and he's not trying to register the mark.

Perhaps you should have researched trademark law a bit before criticizing Obama's legal abilities.
