NYT thinks the NY primary is competitive (Even though Obama trails Clinton by 27%)
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 10:45 PM by antiimperialist
Please, respectfully email Sam Roberts from the New York Times, who wrote an article arguing that Obama is "giving Clinton a race" in NY. This comes at a time when Survey USA has just released a poll finding Obama 27% behind Clinton.
In previous polls Obama had been behind by 25%-38%

Let's give Roberts the benefit of the doubt and assume he wrote the article before this poll was released. Even in that case, does any of you remember any poll in which Obama was even close to Hillary?

I think Roberts doesn't know what he's talking about.

1. NY awards delegates by congressional district
Obama could lose overall statewide and still come out with a lot of the delegates; his campaign is forecasting 40% last I heard.

3. Yep. Statewide means nothing.
Although it will probably be helpful to see which districts vote for him.

Clinton will probably take upstate new york and manhattan and probably nassau county.

4. NYT thinks the NY primary is competitive (Even though Obama trails Clinton by 27%)
Well, since Obama was ahead by only 10-14% in the pre primary polls to Hillary they might be right.

Obama should win by a landslide being 27% down.

5. Well, at the rate that Hillary Clinton was ahead in New Hampshire
for an entire year.......even right before the Iowa primaries....at this rate, she might come out ahead in a squeaker....in New York!

7. So very true.
It's very liberating not to depend on the polls. All of a sudden we can't cling to them because they, too, might betray us.

8. HIllary has the home field advantage in New York.
I wouldn't expect it to be any other way.

Illinois poll Poll Provides a Snapshot of Illinois Presidential Primary
The poll found Obama leading the pack of presidential hopefuls here with 52.6 percent of the vote among hardcore Democrats. Clinton came in second with 24.6 percent. Former U.S. Senator John Edwards was third with 9.5 percent. None of the other declared candidates topped 3 percent, while 6.9 percent chose either "other" or "undecided."

10. I live in NY, and everyone I know now likes and will vote for Obama.
A few Black people were "sticking" with Hillary due to Bill but now after they see he's viable they support Obama.

11. Polls change. If Obama wins SC, the last primary before super tuesday, who has momentum????
Not to mention he could also win Nevada, though its less important.
