One year ago this month, Hillary Clinton had an 85% favorability rating among African Americans
and Bill Clinton was in the Arkansas African American hall of fame.

The 85% rating was after both Clinton presidency terms and after Hil's Senate service. It was after African Americans knew the Clintons in the public eye for 20 years.

I find allegations of "a pattern" of racism coming out of the OFFICIAL Obama campaign suspicious given those facts. I could be wrong and the Clintons might have suddenly become racists.

Am I wrong, and the Clintons have suddenly become racist or is there another explanation for the accusations?

1. Yes, the Clintons couldn't be racist.
They have lots of black friends.

5. I don't think they were judged favorably by African Americans just because of having black friends
I disagree with that

10. Maybe you're obtuse.
"The Clintons can't be racist because they had high favorability among AA's" = "I'm not racist, I have lots of black friends."

Although lying and calling them racist does seem to put the ruthless shoe on Obama's foot.

14. Yes, and Hillary was getting all that attention after NH.
Sexism was being discussed. SUDDENLY OUT OF THE CLEAR BLUE SKY, racism is made the issue. Gosh, golly, I wonder how that happened.

It's like "with all due respect" it's always followed with a slam that shows no respect.

...not being racist themselves? I don't know the comments to which you're referring, but while I don't think the Clintons are racist, I wouldn't put it past them to exploit racism for political gain.

23. Well, one difference was that Hillary wasn't running against a black man...
...a year ago. Could the fact that she now is have anything to do with these statements? Hmmmm....

I don't feel that the Clintons are personally racist, but that they are using racism as a ill-fated campaign strategy.

28. Thanks to rodeodance for the use of this post:
Stephanie Tubbs Jones. ; Sheila Jackson Lee, comments

.........“To say that there is a pattern of racist comments coming out of the Hillary campaign is ridiculous,” said Ohio Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones. “All of the world knows the commitment of President Clinton and Sen. Clinton to civil rights issues — and not only the commitment in terms of words but in terms of deeds.”

Referring to the King quote, Sheila Jackson Lee, another Clinton supporter, said Clinton was trying to contrast King and Obama, not to diminish King: "It really is a question of focusing on the suggestion that you can inspire without deeds — what is well known to the child who studies Dr. King in school is that yes, he spoke, but he also moved people to action."
