But people barely blinked about the racist comments said about about Tiger I posted earlier in the week.

Please don't piss me off y'all. If you're going to care about race. You better care about it when happens to the people you don't know or have no association with as well as the candidate you support.

This eye opening racism thing y'all are displaying as it relates to Obama and no one else makes me laugh like a muthafucka.

The most honest discussions of race on television take place on "Pardon the Interruption" on ESPN. Check it out.

12. Tiger Woods considers himself MULTICULTURAL and claims 1/4 African American heritage.

He is just as much or more "white" as black and seems to take take pride in all of his ancestry.

There seem to be a lot of weird ideas being floated about race-however that term is being defined today.

Incidentally Tiger Woods has spoken up for the right of private golf clubs to discriminate.

14. True. He doesn't consider himself 'black'. He thinks of himself as more Asian.
And it's okay for clubs the PGA works with to discriminate against women. I don't know how he feels about playing at clubs that don't let Jews in.

After five days of dithering, the Golf Channel has finally suspended commentator Kelly Tilghman for two weeks for her on-air comment January 4, suggesting young players looking to break into the game should "lynch Tiger Woods in a back alley." At first Golf Channel officials blew off the controversy, saying that they had gotten very few complaints about Tilghman's appalling attempt to get a laugh.

I don't need to defend myself, because I know that what you are saying does not fit me- but if I just sit back silent while you make prejudiced statements about people based in large part about the color of their skin- then am I any better than those who I condemn for doing the same thing in reverse?

I DO believe that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

I'm sorry your post about Tiger Woods didn't elicit the response it should have.

Please don't use your understandable frustration about that to attack others who may very well be undeserving of your anger.

peace~

In fact, the broadcaster who made the comments has been suspended due to the protests.

Oh, and don't you even dare think you can paint me with the "R" brush.

On the video, it looked like they were in the middle of laughing and she said something with no forethought at all. She really just meant to say he should be "killed" but accidentally used the word "lynch". My impression was no racism was intended. You can agree or disagree but do not dare to call me a racist over not agreeing with your opinion on the intent of it.

29. I agree.. ALL white DUers are closet racists
doesn't sound so good does it? We will NEVER get anywhere with blanket statements.

This place is full of racists, homophobes, misogynists, and other closed-minded assholes, many of whom are here simply to stir up trouble, some simply cannot see their thinking is flawed. However, I doubt all white posters were not offended by the crap said about Tiger Woods.

I understand you calling out the hypocrits on this issue, I just feel it would have been much more productive if you had worded it a bit differently.

On another note - I would imagine the outrage for Obama is a bigger issue here because this is a political website and he is running for president for the party this website represents.

37. Do You Think Calling People "White Folk" Really Helps Things?
You can refer to white people as the royal "y'all" but it only seems to grind things down from getting at the heart of things. I appreciate that you laugh like a muthafucka at the eye opening racism thing, but eye-for-an-eye comments just keep us in the same old-same old.

That said, I didn't blink at the Tiger Woods comment because I didn't see it. I am vocal against any of that kind of talk, even when people are calling Ann Coulter unfortunate names.

(And that said, I still think the Donnie McClurkin people are not helping their own cause by losing a sense of proportion. Flame away.)

But I'm not offended by an accurate label. I'm offended by sweeping generalizations. I fucking hate it when someone calls me a "European-American"--that one really burns my britches. I refuse to be defined by some oversimplified demographic label, but being called white isn't really such a bad thing.

38. A thought on race...
for one thing, racism should be exposed and fought on every front. While I find racism vile, I also know that just because a person is black, white, asian, hispanic...whatever, I do not automatically have to either accept that person and certainly not reject that person based on race.

Racism, like sexism and intolerance of religion/non-religion is a cancer that will hopefully someday be excised, but whenever we "see" racism, it may not be that at all. There is overt racism, the KKK, the Black Panthers, Nazi's, etc; but there are also gaffe's that people pull inadvertently, not meaning any harm. Dumb statements should not be automatically be considered racist.

Then there is the very real and potent problem of hidden racism, sexism, etc, feelings many have that are not overt, like the guy in the garage that ups his prices because a woman shows up w/a car that has an problem, or the guy who sells, something to another at a far higher price, because, "they have all the money".

There are "bad" people in every aspect of a society, but we should deal with the bad, and embrace the others. Whites are not he only racists in this country, or on the planet, there is plenty of hate to go around, virtually all of it unfounded. The situation is that we all have to realize one simple fact, we are all human, and we should treat each human we come across just as we would like to be treated. Unless someone does something to harm us, or society, we should be to the point where we can look them in the eye and they us. Male, female; black, white, asian, hispanic...whatever, we are all equal unless we do something to prove otherwise. If a black man robs a bank, I cannot see where i should think all black men would rob a bank, that, on the face of it is absurd. What has happened in the past should teach us that hatred does nothing but breed more hatred.

But we should also see that not everything can be blamed on "racism". Some may say or do something that to them is innocuous, but to others may be offensive. To hang the moniker of racist upon someone when it is not deserved, not only does that person great harm, but also harms the rest of humanity as well.

We cannot change what "race" we are, but we can change our attitudes and biases, and adhere to
the notion that we are all part of just one "race", the human race. And we should never allow our more shallow side rise to the point where we allow it to control us.

Just my two cents...from one Du'er to other Du'ers.
