Michigan Voter: Democrats.com sent me an email asking dems to vote for Mitt
They say it is a stategy vote to defeat mcain here and to maintain the chaotic repub primary race.

Thoughts anyone?

I was going to vote uncommitted, but I haven't decided if voting for Romney is a better move or not.

2. I am voting UNCOMMITED. Edwards, Obama, Richardson, Biden supporters should do the same. nt
I get the logic of voting for Romney, but I would rather send the message that many Dems do not want Hillary even when she is the only big candidate on the ballot.

5. We get no delegates here because the Michigan dems moved the primary up
It won't really matter who I vote for. I like dennis though... and he continues to show his true concern for and love of this nation by his call for a recount.

10. that's not necessarily true - Michigan may regain their delegates
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 12:20 PM by Liz7
They are saying now that Michigan delegates won't be included, but there is an expectation that we'll regain them at the convention. If enough people vote uncommitted the delegates can vote for whoever they want.

So vote for who you want.

17. If that is in fact the case, I have to vote uncommitted
I know I will get flamed for this but Debbie Dingel who runs the michigan democratic party is a big HRC supporter. She is the candidate who stands to benefit the most from the election in light of the states shenanigans. they have disenfranchised the voters here.

8. I know that. It is just an interesting strategic idea.
I think McCain is the only repub candidate who has a shot against us.

I worry about McCain, too.

11. Want to really create chaos in the race?
Vote for Huckabee. A Huckabee win in MI would leave the media scratching its head!

12. I voted for a puker in Michigan primary in 2004
It was later in the year in 2004 and the Dem candidate had pretty much already been decided.

13. Vote Kucinich!
As a strategy to defeat Hillary there and maintain the Democratic primary race.

All the way to Denver.

But of course if Kucinich won the state, the DLC would no longer be interested in seating the Michigan delegates, would they? :)

14. Then who gets the Dem nominations for congress plus state & local elections?

Would you rather fuck with the Republics, or have a say in who the Democratic nominee will be in all the non-presidential elections?

18. I have never voted in a primary that was only for President.

I don't think such a thing exists.

20. I know Maine used to have a separate Presidential Primary
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 01:25 PM by MaineDem
It was in March and our other primary was in June. We have gone back to having caucuses again. But if we had a Primary it would be a stand-alone one for just the Presidential.

I'm pretty sure other states do that, too. I think SC is Presidential only, for example.

19. Don't vote Mitt! Vote uncommitted D, or your favorite D!
Locals for Edwards and Obama are campaigning for their supporters to vote uncommitted:

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/01/10/a-ploy-for-uncommitted.

I'm for Obama and know that it looks bad when the state big shots who engineered this all happen to be Hillary supporters. But I don't believe in any conspiracy nonsense; it just turned out that way.

Mostly I'm pissed at the locals for doing this to us. Michigan is a big state, it doesn't need to have a first-ever primary. We could have had a relatively early, important meaningful primary, instead we get this sham.

Please don't vote Mitt! I'm afraid of Mitt. He's the most electable Republican because he's so empty-suit boring that the voters might actually not notice he's a Republican (and that's the only way a Republican can win, right?). I'd rather McCain. But whoever, let the Rebuplicans do with the fewest number of votes possible.
