Question about Obama
I've been working the past couple days, and since I work nights and sleep days, I don't get much time to post.
EVERYONE at work knows I am a Democrat, so they have all been asking me who I was voting for since the caucus/primary.
Of course I told them Edwards...and honestly, considering that they were republicans, they weren't impressed much. Left to their own devices, they will probably vote for Huckleberry.
They were laughing and making fun asking if I was voting for Hillary...or Obama.
I certainly gave my opinions of both candidates and then re-stated I was voting for Edwards.
Anyway...the conversation got back around to Obama, and they were all livid about him.
Of course I had to wonder why because isn't he the one reaching across the aisle...going to reel in all of the undecideds, etc.
They said they would NEVER vote for a man who wouldn't salute the flag or say the pledge.
They said it was all over TV.
I have NO idea what they are talking about.
Can anyone fill me in on Obama not saluting the flag???

20. I have not noticed that "theme"...

A theme to rid DU of threads asking about the ubiquitous bullshit emails? Is that what you mean?

Regardless, IMO there was no reason to give such a rude, dismissive response.

4. That was in one of those emails
I think there is a picture of him and his hand isn't over his heart or something. Link them to snopes and there they have video of Obama saying the Pledge.

8. Thank you
I am pretty up to date on stuff, wasn't sure how it slipped.
When they mentioned it, I said it was probably just a smear attack.
They said NO--it was on the teevee. :eyes:
Anyway, I wanted to be able to steer them back to the truth.
Thanks!

10. The first lesson is, don't believe everything you see on TV, especially
Faux! There's lots of sources (pro and con) if you google, but you know he'd never intentionally not salute the flag if the occasion calls for it. That's just silly.

:hi:

13. Well, it's not really bullshit. He really didn't salute....
but his campaign then furnished lots of photos where he did salute. They said sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't.

15. Well. I won't salute, or fly the god-damned flag until this country returns...
to the America I once knew. (I did not salute or fly during Nixon or ray gun either.)

21. Freepers like fake patriots..
they like people who sport plastic ribbons on their SUV's and wear cheap little pins on their lapels (made in China natch). Much like the Bible they are so fond of quoting, they haven't got a clue what the Pledge of Allegience means, it's just a bunch of words they're supposed to repeat.

14. That's one of many misleading (lying) "reports" on Dems.
It's going to be hard to keep up with all of their smear campaigns to have a counter response to the hate-wing nut-jobs, but when I see or hear anything that sounds 'off-key', I need several sources to back up my arguments. Karl Rove's normal operation mode is to pick up a pile of poop and sling it -- see what sticks and go with it. That one about Obama seems to have stuck for a while. Also the one going around about his religion. Prepare yourselves for an onslaught of much more of the same folks.

22. I was able to correct them about his being a Christian
because they said he was a Muslim. The rest of it though, I missed.
I have pretty much blocked the people who spam my mailbox so very rarely do I ever receive that crap.
