Napolitano will endorse Obama
Matthew Benson
The Arizona Republic
Jan. 11, 2008 07:29 AM

Gov. Janet Napolitano will announce her presidential endorsement for Barack Obama shortly after noon today, a source close to the governor has told The Arizona Republic.

The two will appear together in Las Vegas this evening as the Ilinois senator campaigns in preparation for Nevada's Democratic caucuses Jan. 19.

Napolitano represents a valuable endorsement for Obama, giving him the backing of a politically popular female leader from a conservative state. It was just Wednesday that the governor indicated that she planned to offer any Democratic endorsement at all prior to Arizona's presidential primary Feb. 5.

In 2004, she waited to endorse John Kerry until March 1 - nearly a full month after the state's primary.

12. Draft Janet Napolitano for President!
Either she or Claire McClaskill would be outstanding.

13. Heh, one of my friends plans to write in a "Napolitano/McCaskill" ticket
on the ballot if Hillary were to be nominated. Again, Janet Napolitano or Claire McCaskill should be our first Madame President, either one of them has what it takes.
