New South... (on edit) NORTH Carolina Poll: It's All Tied Up!
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 08:32 AM by wyldwolf
A new Public Policy Polling survey in North Carolina finds Sen. Hillary Clinton leading the Democratic presidential race with 31% support, followed by Sen. Barack Obama at 29% and John Edwards back at third place in his home state with 27%.

The margin of error is 3.1%, technically making the race a statistical tie.

30. Less awesome than one would hope, according to the text in the link.
Text indicates John is losing mo in SC.
In the Presidential race, John Edwards has dropped to third place after the recent victories by Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama in key primary states. Clinton leads with 31%, followed by Obama at 29 and Edwards at 27.

“Momentum is a precious commodity in politics. Right now Clinton and Obama have it and Edwards doesn’t, which is making it hard for him to fare well even in his home state,” said Debnam.

Of course, I'm taking all polls with a dump truck of salt, and this poll contradicts all others, but it sure will give hope to Edwards supporters.

11. This poll doesn't make any sense.
The current average on RCP for Edwards is 15.3. He hasn't been above 18% since August.

Why would Edwards get a bump of 12% points after finishing so far down in NH?

32. I think the statement is correct, in the implied context of this Pres. election cycle.
The next 3 states are incredibly important for dictating how things play-out in the "super" days ahead.

18. Oh, But Listen To The Anti-Edwards Spin On It
Edwards has "dropped" to third (following IA and NH).

Was Edwards leading in SC going into these contests? My impression is he's been struggling there all along although not trailing as much as he was in NH.

I am an Edwards supporter and REALLY want him to win SC. The thing is, I've made peace with the fact that Obama or Clinton will probably be our nominee and will enthusiastically support either of them. But, I want a competitive primary. I don't want to go into Super Tuesday with at least three candidates.

Besides, the media is so anxious to write off Edwards, wouldn't it be great if he pulled off a win in SC and gave them another black eye?

peace offering to Clinton people: my Mom (in her early 60s) was a soft supporter of Edwards, but after Clinton's heartfelt moment in NH, she switched support to Hillary. My Mom really relates to the kind of crap Hillary gets because of gender. Sorry Obama supporters, your guy leaves my Mom cold, although she will back whichever Democrat is the nominee.

Thanks for giving me "False Hope" (like Obama ;) ) But you never know. Edwards can make a dramatic comeback and still win SC!
