Clinton To Shelve Negative Ads, as Political Dynamics Change
http://www.nysun.com/article/69331

A wave of negative television advertisements that Senator Clinton was expected to unleash on Senator Obama this week will likely be shelved until Super Tuesday next month in light of the changed dynamics of the Democratic race following her win in New Hampshire, political strategists and ad consultants said yesterday.

"I would be very wary of being the first to draw blood," a Democratic ad maker not affiliated with any presidential campaign, John Lapp, said. "You have such an advantage doing the response, being able to call the other person negative, and then you go ahead and lower the boom."

2. My problem with this is, if she had lost NH she would be slinging shit until the cows...
come home... She is not a sincere candidate, in that she is not in this race to bring a change in this country, but is only there for Hillary! I beg someone to prove me wrong in this logic. Sorry, but I don't see any improvement from where we are right now with Hillary.

6. Its a question of stability.
The appeal of Hillary for me is that these are actually somewhat extraordinary times, with extraordinary risks. (and I'm not talking about terrorism) When she said this may be the most important election in history, I think she may be right. There are a lot of factors here for America that people aren't talking about, but if you look the writing is on the wall...And the question for me at this point is who can keep this ship of state from SINKING, not who can tweak it to run a little better.

3. Good for her. Did you see the poll results from NH?
Obama people dislike Clinton more than Clinton folks dislike Obama. I think she has the right idea in sort of looking at him as this talented junior who could accomplish great things, but not yet. Especially if Obama supporters look all wacky.

10. I agree,
and the campaign should have taken him more seriously as a contender right from the beginning. I hope she continues to push all of them, herself included to start debating their records and platforms though, I really like the fact that she started demanding that.

14. Getting her record out more is a good start.
I was musing on this, I think there are a few things she really needs to do to cut through the veil that's keeping her from being seen. That won't hurt.

5. Ok, hope it works
Im not sure they shouldn't run negative ads against Obama. This is risky, Obama could still win. IMHO they should start on Obama's lack of experience.

7. If there is dirt on Obama, better for the party to have it come out now...
why shouldn't he be vetted? Will the repugs hold back if he's the nominee? I don't think so. If the dirt is true, sling it.

8. Hillary's campaign is full of contradictions.
Here's another one. They're going to decide they need negative ads after it's too late. It's one of the strangest campaigns ever.

11. Nobody said she's a saint,
they're all politicians using whatever strategy works. It looks like she's gotten Obama to say he'll talk more about his voting record, and that can't hurt the debate.

21. "What she's doing" is not running negative ads.
If that's "more of the same establishment bullshit", then so be it.

22. What she is doing is threatening to. If she would have lost, they'd be all over
the place right now. But she's using it not as a way to keep us informed or draw differences between them, but as a way to turn would-be Obama supporters to her, should she get caught in a spot that she might not win in otherwise.

And we've already seen how misleading and half-true some of their attacks have been. So they wait until what? The day before Super Tuesday, when it's hard to get the facts out in time for the vote?

She really disgusts me. Her and Lieberman deserve each other.

19. Negative ads
Don't worry, if Obama is the nominee, the rethugs will run all the negative ads needed. Has no one here read anything about Obama's time in Chicago? INvestigate his house and the lot next to it. Campaign contributions from indited real estate developers. It will all come out. Not much to it really, but the swiftboating will be bad.
