Obama/Kerry 2008? What do you think?
Hey, I'm a Hillary and Edwards backer... BUT have no hard feelings to Obama and would become a hardcore supporter if he wins the nomination. However, I also think Kerry is a nice enough guy... I know, I know he did "lose" when he ran in 2008, but he has a lot of supporters. Do you thinik that Kerry would accept the offer of VP on Obama's ticket if Obama were to make it? Do you think that would be a good idea or a horrible one? Do you think Obama wouldn ever offer a VP to Kerry? Kerry has military experience, and a lot of experience in the Senate. Plus Kerry now has experience running a presidential campaign in the past?

1. No, and I am a Kerry and Obama supporter.
And anyway, Kerry is for reelection this year.

3. no, I don't think Kerry would take it
I see Obama picking Richardson or Wes Clark possibly. Maybe even Edwards because he's still young enough to run in 2012 or 2016.

17. Wes Clark would be PERFECT!
For several reasons. He has great credentials with regard to the military, with regard to security....and to top it off he firmly believes in war only at the last, last resort. His foreign policy credentials would greatly add to the ticket. Plus which, Clark is a progressive through and through (McGovern called him a "Democrat's Democrat" and Moore endorsed him. He is a good speaker, and would make a great attack dog VP. He compliments Obama in several ways, including age and geography.

Clark is the obvious best choice for both Obama and Hillary. For many of the same reasons.

6. Nah, I like Kerry where he is.
Also I'd think somebody more conservative, not that I like conservative, but somebody else could balance out the ticket.

8. No, Kerry is a senior politico in the party. He can't play 2nd fiddle to a junior one.
It's just not done, esp. because he previously ran for and lost the presidency.

But he COULD be part of the cabinet.

9. I think it's a terrible idea.
A cabinet position would be a better offer. Obama need a VP from the South. That is why Kennedy chose Johnson.

11. JK for VP!
It may sound implausible right now, but let's see how everything unfolds.

Personally, I'd consider it a dream come true. And I'd feel so much better about our country's future if it were in the safest of hands.

14. Hell no.
Especially if Huckabee is anywhere on the Repuke ticket.

Obama (if he gets the nom) should look West. The Rocky Mountain West, Southwest, and PacNorWest is far more vulnerable than the South.

13. No and a emphatic no.
Kerry was a dud on the campaign trail in '04. Is there any reason to expect any better in '08? I haven't seen any reason to believe so.

Plus he would be bad where it comes to regional strategies. He's from New England, essentially a lock for us.

He brings nothing to the table for us.

21. I don't think Kerry was a dud
And by the looks of the crowds they WANTED to hear his message. I watched every Kerry Edwards rally that C-SPAN covered and there were ALWAYS LARGE CROWDS. I don't want Kerry as a VP, that would be very unlikely, however, John Kerry HAS a lot to bring to the table.

19. Obama-Kerry 2008
Yes! I think Obama-Kerry 2008 would be a smashing success. Hey, we all have our critics, but John Kerry won more votes than any Democrat ever before. He actually ran a strong campaign against a wartime incumbent. For my two cents, I like Al Gore and John Kerry and Barack Obama.

It's got a nice ring to it. A balance of youth and experience.
Obama-Kerry 2008. Yes sir, I like it.

23. I think Kerry would make an Excellent Attorney General, especially since he KNOWS the BFEE
Of course he would have to give up his Senate seat, which would be a drag. But he would be a :kick:ass AG, with his prosecutor experience he would bring back the Department Of Justice to JUSTICE FOR ALL.

24. One Option
Everyone sure has critics, especially here at DU! If John Kerry were to leave the Senate, Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts would appoint another Democrat to that office. It wouldn't help the Republicans pick up a Senate seat like it might in other States. I think John Kerry would be a very good AG too. His broad knowledge of government might make him suited for a variety of Cabinet positions. Let the flak fly if you must :-}
