Let's Put One Thing to Rest, John Edwards Will Not Be the Dem VP Candidate
Its all in for Edwards. And I doubt he is even interested in playing second fiddle again.

Clinton or Obama would be crazy to choose him, and its not just because he didn't perform up to expectations in 2004 (according Kerry's people).

Especially not through some deal with Obama, an idea I have seen floating around the board lately.

If you want to run to a "change" campaign, you don't do it by having reruns.

He would be mocked incessantly by the media and GOP for being the Democrat's perennial VP candidate, and his whole candidacy would be a joke.

He either wins it all or takes his marbles and goes home, that's the way I see it.

12. I doubt Gore has any interest in the Vice Presidency
But he was part of a team that won three presidential elections in a row, unlike Edwards who has won zero.

2. He won't be VP Candidate but when you're running for US Presidency now change is ALWAYS on topic
It would be a huge stepdown for John to be Vice President. I can't seem him ever accepting such a post.
If he doesn't win (and I don't for a moment think it's over ... if you do, you haven't lived through
as many elections I have), then he'll probably do something similar to Al Gore. He's too good, wise and
informed a person to get lost in the shuffle. A lot of children and other humans owe him their lives.

4. Same for Obama and Clinton.

Neither would make a good VP for the other.

And I doubt Edwards would want either.

5. Maybe Sen. Obama and Sen. Edwards finalized a deal......
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 07:38 PM by TheDebbieDee
that would make Sen. Edwards the nominee for Attorney General if Sen. Obama wins the election.

I know that ALL of the candidates and political notables are entertaining all kinds of ideas regarding administration posts and endorsements.

6. Since edwards is now tied to obama i e last saturday nights
debate,(double teaming hrc) all edwards wants to do is stay in and hopefully either win or come in second in south carolina in hopes that hrc comes in third and the mediawhores will be talking not so much about edwards/obama or obama/edwrds, but hrc placing third....Well hell, excuse me but hrc finished third in iowa too, but that meant nothing as she won nh and edwards came in third......

7. Hypothetically speaking, how about an Edwards/Obama ticket ?
neither are my first choice, but I'm just considering a combination which could secure a Democratic White House for 16 years, and an end to this Bush-Clinton dynasty horseshit.

Granted, Edwards would have to win a few primaries before this would happen. But as I said, it's a hypothetical.

8. And there was no way Hillary could win New Hampshire.
Two states have voted. No one is "all in".

15. I'm not saying it couldn't happen.
Just that it would be an incredibly stupid political move.

9. If Bloomberg enters the race you'll be seeing Obama and/or HRC crying for Edwards to enter the race
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 07:51 PM by EVDebs
...as an Independent ! Howzat for strategery. They, and the media, won't have Johnny to kick around anymore LOL ! It's all up to Bloomberg right now.

His American Dream
http://nymag.com/news/politics/25015/

Right now, with polls showing the GOP having their candidate having his ass handed to him whomever it is, the GOP needs, nay, requires, a third party candidate to appear out of nowhere to even up the odds. If Bloomberg enters, John is the ONLY candidate left who can win for progressive values (both economic and middle-class).

That's the scenario. We are watching the GOP play their waiting game, hoping for John to drop out; then they spring in with Bloomberg as the pseudo-moderate in order to try to siphon off moderate Democratic and Independent voters.

Dems need to realize that John is in this for the long haul. If Obama and Hilary don't start sounding more like John, whichever one of them left standing will be cut off at the knees by a Bloomberg entry. Wishing to take out John now ? What's that old French saying, be careful what you wish for...you just might get it. And get it in spades !

10. thank you
I'm tired of the Clinton/Edwards, or Obama/Edwards. When you lose as a VP candidate, it's either the Presidency or nothing. You don't run as a VP candidate again unless you're an incumbent. Gerald Ford was almost the exception.
