John Kerry has earned the right to endorse who he wants.
I support John Edwards and find him to be the best person in the race but
if John Kerry wants to endorse Obama that is his right as an American. John
Kerry won 3 purple hearts, a Bronze Star, and a Silver Star in Vietnam and has
tried to work to help all Americans in his political career so if he wants to
support Obama, fine.

BTW I am from Ohio and felt kicked in the gut when he did not fight the
2004 "theft" but since then I have come to think that massive pressure
was put on him to make him concede like he did .... and I hope some day
the truth comes out and Blackwell & Rove go to jail but I doubt that will
happen.

The problem w/ DU is that quick access to information allows quick and sometimes
emotional responses that feel good at the time but in the long run hurt "our fight."

2. thank you for your rational, well spoken
truth.

I have great respect for John Kerry- and share your wish that things had turned out differently in 2004.

Thanks for posting this.

4. I met the man he pulled out of the water in Vietnam in 2004
While under fire and wounded in the shoulder he crawled out on the bow of the
swiftboat to pull a wounded man from the water. It was a crime that he did
not fight the Swift Boating more but we had the vets from his boat ready to meet
the press anytime .... in Columbus, OH our media all but refused to that.

Kerry was fighting against real long odds.

6. Of course Kerry can
endorse whomever he pleases. But, it sure seems like a slap in the face to Edwards.

7. John & Elizabeth have done some dissing of Kerry these past 3 years.
Kerry did not owe Edwards the endorsement.

8. They've done more than a little dissing. Read Elizabeth's book to see the real Elizabeth.
In her book, Elizabeth Edwards stabbed the Kerry's in the back repeatedly. She was particularly spiteful towards Theresa.

I can easily understand why John Kerry would not endorse Edwards.

9. To go through what they went through I am sure rubbed a lot of ....
... emotions raw. After all Kerry & Edwards are human and hurt just like
you and I .... look @ the Beatles by the time they were 30 they hated each
other to some sort of extent .... and later on they became friends again.

I hope John and John can become friends again too. They are both class
acts.

10. Ohio Democrat here.
I felt abandoned by Kerry, no used and abused! Edwards I understand wanted to fight for our votes, and I than him for that passion.

12. I felt the same way too.
But I think Kerry was put under massive pressure to quit by forces
inside the dem party and by other more evil forces too.

I wish Kerry had come back to Ohio and fought for our votes to be
counted and why he didn't will always bug me.

15. Kerry spoke out about this in 2005 and was ridiculed for it
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 08:01 PM by politicasista
Where was Edwards? Where were other Democrats? Oh, I forgot, Kerry was supposed to do this all by himself.

14. I really wonder if endorsements work anyway
Has anyone here ever had their mind changed to the point where they switched candidates because of an endorsement? I was a big Wes Clark supporter in 2004 and admire the man, but his endorsement of Hillary Clinton didn't sway me at all. I think most people at DU are too independent minded and stubborn to get swayed by someone's ensorement, even that of an admirable person like John Kerry. I would hope that the electorate in general would not allow themselves to be persuaded to change their vote, just because a fellow citizen approves of a particular candidate. I'd hope they'd come to a decision entirely on their own.
